• A woman was badly injured when her former boyfriend threw hot grease in her face around 7 a.m. Tuesday in the 1500 block of East Collin. The incident allegedly began when Henry Crawford, Jr., 61, went to the home of his former friend, a 50-year-old woman, and they got into an argument. She attempted to stop the fight when she went to bed. Crawford went into the kitchen and began frying some pork chops. After awhile, he went into the bedroom and threw the grease onto the woman, and then began punching her.
He left the house and she called police. She was taken by air helicopter to Parkland Hospital for treatment. The suspect, meanwhile, walked to the Navarro County Jail and turned himself into authorities. He was arraigned on charges of aggravated assault and remains in the jail in lieu of $150,000 in bonds.
• A Corsicana Police car was damaged along with a carport, when an officer had a prisoner get loose from his vehicle at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
According to the report, the officer was driving a 2008 Dodge Charger north on South 42nd Street carrying a prisoner to the county jail when he realized she had managed to free her hands and was getting out of the moving car.
Kinshasa Carter, 36, was originally arrested for criminal trespass in the Kenwood Apartments parking lot. She was cuffed behind her back and put into the back of the car and the officer was taking her to the jail when she got out of the cuffs completely, then got the window down and the door open and jumped from the car. The officer stopped the car and pursued her on foot, but didn’t put the car into “park,” so it rolled across West Eighth Avenue and struck an aluminum carport.
The officer tackled the suspect and she resisted, punching him in the mouth. Navarro County Deputy Jeff Harbuck responded to assist and transported Carter to the jail. Neither the police officer nor the suspect were injured.
As of Thursday evening, Carter remained in the Navarro County jail in lieu of $53,000 bond for the various charges.
