Nov. 15-18

The Warehouse Living Arts Center Theatre will present the final show of the 2012 season with the opening of Jerry Herman’s MAME.  The large cast with Cristin Denbow in the title role is directed by David Timmerman and assisted  by Todd Jones. MAME, based on the novel by Patrick Dennis and the play “Auntie Mame” by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, will delight and entertain audiences with the captivating story and music.  Show dates are: Nov. 15-16 & 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. The show will be presented at the Palace Theatre at 112 W 6th Avenue. Tickets are now on sale at the Warehouse Living Arts Center which is located at 119 West Sixth Avenue across from the post office.  Season ticket guest discounts apply if the tickets are paid for in advance at the WLAC. Nov. 16

The Corsicana Newcomers' Club will hold its Thanksgiving meeting at the Kinsloe House at 11 a.m.  Gary Penney, Texas Cowboy Poet will entertain with original works and maybe even some harmonica music!  Come celebrate the holidays with us and meet your neighbors!  Call Marge Oslick at (903) 872-3508 for more information and confirmed reservations.



Nov. 17

Martin Luther King Jr. Center presents an Arts and Crafts Fair from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. It will feature jewelry, children’s storybooks, hats, purses, scarves, decorative T-shirts, clothing, canned goods, and much more. There will be food and drinks available. The MLK Center is located at 1114 E. Sixth Ave., please contact E. Burrell at (903) 874-2821 for an application or more information.



Angles of Corsicana Troop Support will meet at 9 a.m. at the Angel Room, 1020 N. Bus. 45, and welcome all ages to come pack. This packing is for Thanksgiving boxes to fill for the troops. There wil be a request for volunteers to sign up to run the lines for the Christmas packing to be held Dec. 1 at the Fellowship Hall across from Navarro College. Nov. 19

Navarro College Band will host a Small Ensembles Concert at 6 p.m. at the Navarro College Dawson Auditorium. Admission is free. There will be woodwind ensemble, brass ensemble, and percussion. Groups will perform a wide variety of music, from pop to jazz to classical.



Nov. 22

American Legion Auxiliary will host a Thanksgiving Day dinner from 2 to 5 p.m. The Legion is located at 632 N. Beaton. This is for veterans and their families, and for those who have no one to share the day with.



Nov. 24

Gospel Jubilee will be held at Martin’s Music Hall. Special guests Carolyn Cobb and the Corsicana Cowboy Church Band join regular performers Elias Lowe, Gary Poe and Jody Thomas. Come out for a wholesome night of entertainment. Tickets are $10 each.



American Legion, 632 N. Beaton, will host Karaoke from 8 p.m. to 12 midnight. Come out and enjoy a fun evening with Country Sue.



Nov. 26

The newly organized Silver Dems will meet at 5 p.m. at the Navarro Democratic Party HQ at 416A W. Third Street (1 blk W of Court House).  We will be socializing and munching from plates that you bring so be generous with the sweet treats and wear your best smile.  We will soon be approving by-laws and electing officers and committees so your leadership skills will be needed.  Come and join the party! The group’s main purpose is to discuss and protect issues important to folks over 50 years young and educate ourselves on benefits from the government and civilian organizations that are available and earned by senior citizens and veterans.



Dec. 1

Authors of "Out of Our Minds," an anthology of the North Texas  Professional Writers Association, edited by local writer Janet Jacobs, will be signing copies of their book from 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Hasting's in Waxahachie, 791 North Highway 77.



The Annual Festival of Lights Christmas Parade will be kicked off at 6 p.m. Line up will begin at 5 p.m. at the old K-mart parking lot on N. 13th St. For information or to sign up, contact Dennis Thornberg at (903) 872-2133. There is no entry fee.



Navarro County Toy Run will leave the VFW, 4609 W. Hwy 31 at 11 a.m. for a scenic country ride that ends up back at the VFW. Cars, bikes and clubs all welcome! Angels of Corsicana Troop Support will meet at 10 a.m. at United Christian Fellowship Hall located across from the flagpole at Navarro College on W. Hwy 31. All ages are welcome to come pack. Friday, Nov. 30 at 3 p.m. we will be at this location receiving donations and setting up the lines for packing. Anyone wishing to help would be greatly appreciated and very welcome! The House of Refuge will sell raffle tickets for the homemade quilts to give away at Bealls in College Park Mall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All proceeds from the raffle ticket sales will go toward operation of the House of Refuge.



Dec. 2

Kerens Garden Club will present its Tour of Homes and Winter Wonderland from 2 to 5 p.m. Tickets are $10. Three homes on the tour are the home of Judy and Norton Conner, Cindy Scott, and Dora and Miguel Palafox. The tour ends at New Garden Park in Kerens, where refreshments will be served. Dec. 5

American Legion Auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m. at the Legion, 632 N. Beaton. Come join our  Post 22. This meeting is held the first Wednesday of the month.



Dec. 8

Shakers and Scrapers Car Club will hold its annual toy drive from 3 p.m. until...? Please bring one or more unwrapped toy along with your classic car, truck, motorcycle. Admire each other’s cars and make sure those less fortunate have a wonderful Christmas.  All toys will be donated to The Salvation  Army. Dec. 11

Navarro Regional Hospital will hold a Diabetes Prevention Workshop once monthly for people with pre-diabetes or at risk for diabetes. These classes will be held on the second Tuesday of each month from 5 to 7 p.m. The Diabetes Self-Management Comprehensive Program is an ongoing class for patients diagnosed with diabetes. Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. at the Sirloin Stockade, 2508 W. Seventh Ave, Corsicana. Membership is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between Feb, 28, 1961 and May 7,1975, or in ANY duty location between Aug. 5, 1964 and May 7,1975. The veteran must submit a copy of his/her DD Form 214 along with the application and dues. Members and guest are invited to come early and eat and visit prior to the meeting.

Mary Peterson Child Care Center will hold a concert and reception at 7:30 p.m. at The Cook Center. The purpose of the concert is to raise funds for a new facility to be constructed for Mary Peterson Child Care Center. This awareness event is themed “Bridge to the Future — Mary Peterson Child Care Center.”
