Dawson Divas
The 6:30 p.m. Oct. 19 “Spooktacular” meeting of Dawson Divas will be held at the home of Bob and Robbye Nesmith, 207 S. Main St., Dawson. For directions, call (254) 578-1444. This is the annual costume contest party with prizes awarded for the funniest, most beautiful, scariest, and most original. Hostesses will be LaVada Spruiell, Betty Mitcham and Robbye Nesmith. A full meal will be served. There will be nothing to bring by members other than themselves and their guests. Contact Nesmith for costume ideas if you need help.
James Blair Chapter, DAR
James Blair Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will meet at 3 p.m. Oct. 14 at Kinsloe House. Chapter registrar Barbara Shore will report on lineage issues and use of “Today’s DAR” information. Regent Geneva Davis will discuss fall forum challenges. Hostesses for the meeting will be Bobbie Allen, Ann Brown and Louise Stough.
The Daughters of the American Revolution is an historical genealogical heritage organization open to female descendants of American patriots who served or gave service to the American government during the American Revolutionary War. Corsicana Newcomers Club
The October Corsicana Newcomers Club get-together will be at 5 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Senior Activity Center. There will be a potluck dinner and an auction. Each member is asked to contribute an item or items for the auction. Proceeds will be distributed to local charities.
The “Roadrunners” will go to Fairfield Oct. 15. They will meet at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church parking lot, across from H-E-B, and return at approximately 4 p.m. Call Peggy Dixson at (903) 874-8316 so she can arrange carpooling.

Woman’s Club House Association
American Business Women’s Association will present the program luncheon at Kinsloe House on Oct. 21. The program, titled “Zanada Tally Schoppert Entertains,” promises to be a treat for all those attending. This well-known singer has performed at such places as the Palace Theatre, Martin’s Music Hall, Warehouse Living Arts Center, and for numerous local fund-raisers. She is always a favorite with audiences, singing country and western, blues, gospel, and others, old and new. Members should make reservations early for themselves and their guests to hear this popular and talented performer.
Jera O’Neal is chairman of ABWA, the sponsoring committee, and other members are Lou Ann Allen, Paula Jones, Sandra Palmer, and Barbara Watkins. Luncheon reservations or cancellations should be made by noon Oct. 19 by calling (903) 874-5791. The board of directors for Woman’s Club House Association will meet at 1:30 p.m.
The Literary Club
The Literary Club will meet at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 15 at Kinsloe House. The program will be “Marley and Me” by John Grogan and will be presented by Marsha Banks. Hostesses will be Dottie Mayer and Dorothy Edling.
