Arrest made in student shooting

A 19-year-old Seagoville man is in custody in connection with a shooting Oct. 20 on South 42nd Street in which a Navarro College student was seriously wounded.

Darrick Bailey was arrested Monday night by officers of the Seagoville Police Department on charges of aggravated robbery following an investigation by Sgt. Paul Jock and lead investigator Dan McAninch. Bailey was arraigned in Seagoville, then transported to Corsicana on Wednesday. He is said to be cooperating with authorities in their investigation, according to a release from Ladena Baggett, Corsicana’s assistant police chief.

On Oct. 20, officers from the Corsicana Police Department responded to a report of shots fired at the apartments at 685 South 42nd Street, near the campus of Navarro College. Jeremiah Blair, 21, was wounded in the incident, and was subsequently flown to Parkland Hospital in Dallas for treatment of gunshot wounds.

Detectives anticipate additional arrests will be made in this case, the release said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact Jock at (903) 654-4911.
