North Beaton Church of Christ, 2725 N. Beaton St., will have a gospel meeting Nov. 8-11 about “The Truth According to Jesus” with Ferman Carpenter. The schedule of lessons will be as follows: Nov. 8 — “How to have a Bible study” at 9:30 a.m., “The Truth About Truth” at 10:30 a.m., and “The Truth About God” at 6 p.m.; Nov. 9 — “The Truth About Happiness” at 7 p.m.; Nov. 10 — a ladies class at 9:30 a.m., and “The Truth About Religion” at 7 p.m.; and Nov. 11 — “The Truth About Salvation” at 7 p.m.





Barry Methodist and Emhouse Methodist churches will have Lord’s Acre Nov. 7 at the Fannie Mae Vernon Room at the Navarro County Exposition Center, State Highway 22, Corsicana. This year marks the 48th year that the churches have jointly held a Lord’s Acre festival. A barbecue lunch, prepared by Third Avenue Market, with homemade pies will be served starting at 11 a.m. with the auction starting at 1 p.m. Country store and sweet shop will open at 10:30 a.m. Also, a quilt will be raffled. Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 101 N. Fourth St., will celebrate its 137th church anniversary at 3 p.m. Nov. 8. Guests will be the Rev. Michael W. Waters and Joy Tabernacle AME Church of Dallas.

Waters, the founder and senior pastor of Joy Tabernacle AME Church, has been named one of the top young leaders in America by Ebony magazine (April 2009). He is an honors graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, earning a B.A. degree in political science and religious studies (with a minor in history) and a Master of Divinity degree in African American church studies and in urban ministry. He is currently finishing his Doctor of Ministry degree in urban ministry at the SMU Perkins School of Theology. He is married to Yulise Reaves Waters and they have two children.

Everyone is invited to come out and help Bethel celebrate this wonderful event. The Rev. Ray C. Emanuel is pastor, the Rev. Leonard “Ted” Johnson is assistant pastor, and Sister Pamela Colbert and Brother Chester Bradley are exhorters.



Bethlehem Baptist Church, 409 N. Third St., where the Rev. Dairy Johnson Sr. is pastor, invites the public to come and hear songs of praise at the harvest musical at 7 p.m. Nov. 7. Come out and be blessed.

The annual men’s day will be held at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 8. Guest church will be New Bethel Baptist Church and the Rev. Earnest Betts, pastor, will be the speaker.



Eastside Church of Christ, 906 E. 13th Ave., has a food and clothing ministry open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays. Non-perishable food, clothing, shoes and some household items will be given to those in need. First United Methodist Church of Corsicana, 320 N. 15th St., will have its fall festival and annual bazaar Nov. 24. The luncheon menu will be turkey spaghetti, green beans, salad, rolls and pumpkin cake. Tickets are on sale from United Methodist Women members and at the church office. Tickets are $8 per plate. Children’s plates are $4 each (under age 10). You may dine in or call (903) 874-5657 to make arrangements for a take-out lunch. The phone line, for take-out lunches, will be activated at 10 a.m. until noon on the day of the bazaar. There will be homemade cakes, pies, breads and miscellaneous items for sale. Doors of the bazaar will open at 11 a.m. and lunch will be served until 1 p.m. Tickets are good only for the luncheon, regardless if you eat in or take out. Turkey spaghetti will also be for sale at $8 per quart and $4 per pint. A silent auction will be open from 11 a.m. to closing.



First United Methodist Church of Dawson, 200 N. Main St., will have a Lord’s Acre dinner and auction Nov. 7 in the church’s fellowship hall. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch will consist of ham and your choice of sides including potato salad, baked beans, salad, bread, dessert and beverage. Cost will be $8 for adults and $5 for children 4 to 12 years old, and children under 4 will eat free. Take-out meals will be available. The live auction will begin at 1 p.m. Proceeds from the Lord’s Acre will go to special community and church projects.



First United Methodist Church of Kerens will have its annual Lord’s Acre Nov. 7 at the Kerens Alumni Center in downtown Kerens. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with brisket, ham and all the trimmings. Homemade desserts will be on hand also. Lunch will be $4 for children and $8 for adults. There will be a live auction beginning at 1:30 p.m.



Frost United Methodist Church will have a turkey dinner Nov. 7, sponsored by the Frost United Methodist Women, at the Frost UMC annex. Take-out meals will be available beginning at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Menu will be turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes, green beans and homemade pie. Cost will be $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.



Greater Wilgo Baptist Church, 621 E. First Ave., where Arthur C. Faulk serves as pastor, will observe its 105th church anniversary Nov. 22. At 11 a.m., the message will be brought by Minister Charles Douglas of Mount B. Zion Baptist Church of Goodlow, where the Rev. Nathan Carter is pastor. Guests and 3 p.m. Timothy Baptist Church of Chatfield and its pastor, Clarence Jones Jr., who will bring the message. Everyone is invited to worship on this glorious occasion.



Harmony Baptist Church, 400 E. 12th Ave., where Bishop John Baker is pastor, will hold a special service at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 8 in order to be a blessing to Jazzton Williams, his parents Elder Michael Williams and Minister Donna Williams, and family. Later in the month, Jazzton is scheduled to have knee surgery and the church family wants to give the family some much-needed support for hospital expenses and for assistance during their down time to care for their son. Anyone who is acquainted with Jazzton and his family is asked to join in this service to lift up the name of Jesus and to help with your presence and your love offering. Heavenly Days Country Holiness Church, 12852 County Road SW2170, Richland, will have a gospel singing with an open mic from 4 to 6 p.m. Nov. 21. All donations such as food, hygiene items, paper goods, etc., will go to help fill the church’s food pantry, which helps those in need. Sandwiches will be served after the singing. Landmark Baptist Church will close out its second annual pumpkin patch Nov. 6 with all pumpkins going at close-out prices — half price or less. You are invited to join in for worship on Sundays at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. and for Sunday school at 10 a.m. There is a midweek Bible study at 7 p.m. Wednesdays. Landmark is an independent, fundamental, old-fashioned, King James Bible, mission-minded Baptist Church. There is a place for you.



Life in the Word Bible Church, 1408 N. Beaton St., where Emma Brown-Jessie is pastor, will honor the Women of Prayer Ministry, headed by Mary Slaughter at 3 p.m. Nov. 8. Special guests will be Pastor Erma Young and Calvary Full Gospel Baptist Church along with other guests. The theme will be “Can God Change My Season.” Come and enjoy the word of the Lord and His presence.



Men’s Community Prayer Breakfast will meet at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Lone Star Room of the Walker Dining Hall on the Navarro College campus. This meeting is open to all men in the community. New Birth Sanctuary Church of God in Christ, 805 S. 15th St., where D.R. Washington is pastor, will have its men’s day brotherhood program at 3 p.m. Nov. 8. Sister Sonji Washington, first lady, will be the mistress of ceremony. The occasion will be by Sister Kasey Beaird and the welcome by Missionary Francis Jones. Announcements will be by Mother Margaret Ricard and paper of brotherhood in God’s service by Sister Sophia Massey. Guests will be Word of Life Tabernacle and Pastor Lee Keeton and Freedom Fellowship and its pastor, Jessie Williams, who will be the speaker.



Open Bible study and gospel singing is held every Thursday at the Senior Activity Center, 919 W. Park Ave., Corsicana. There is no cost to attend. Singing with Patrick and Nancy McCurrin on guitars and Virginia Terry on piano is held from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Bible study is held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. with Peggy Smith as the teacher of this class. Open Door Church of God in Christ, 1208 E. Eighth Ave., where David Thompson is pastor, will have a soul-saving and restoration revival at 7 p.m. Nov. 11-13. Evangelist will be Bishop K.D. Davis Sr., pastor of Sixth Avenue Baptist Church. Guest lecturers will be Evangelist C. Douglas of Single Believers Ministry, Nov. 11; Elder J. Johnson of Johnson Memorial COGIC, Nov. 12; and Pastor David Wilson of Love Chapel Baptist Church, Nov. 13. Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church will hold a healing and wholeness service at 7 p.m. Nov. 10. You are invited to join in for fellowship and blessings. This is for everyone who is seeking peace and wellness. Sunday services are at 9 a.m. with Sunday school at 10:30 a.m.



Sixth Avenue Baptist Church, 125 S. Fifth St., where Bishop K.D. Davis is pastor and the Rev. H.P. Williams is associate pastor, will present “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” at 6 p.m. Dec. 5 at Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, 1114 E. The Word Church, 2708 W. Eighth Ave., will have its November Angel Food order days from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Nov. 6 and from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 7 and 9. There are no more box requirements. Unity Baptist Church, 406 S. 34th St., where Brother Chad Owens is pastor, invites you to services: Sunday — Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m., worship and children’s church at 11 a.m., Bible study classes at 5 p.m., and worship at 6 p.m.; Tuesday — visitation to shut-ins at 10 a.m., Wednesday — prayer meeting at 7 p.m.; and Thursday — 7 p.m. Bible study at Northwest Apartments Community Center.
