CHAMBER NOTEPAD: Busy holiday schedule for Chamber
Congratulations to the Corsicana Tigers for their playoff win over West Mesquite on Friday night. Go all the way Tigers! Unfortunately, the Kerens Bobcats and the Mildred Eagles season came to an end but not after having a great regular season. Congratulations to all our area teams for making the playoffs and we are very proud of all of you.
I heard from a number of ladies on Friday all about the Healthy Women annual dinner at the Cook Center sponsored by Navarro Regional Hospital. These ladies were raving about Suzie Humphries, the food and looking forward to next year’s events. In their first year the membership grew to 700 and the next event will be in January according to Vicki Arnett the 2009 chairperson for the Healthy Women Advisory Council. WOW, what a great first year!
The Chamber Ambassadors held a ribbon cutting Friday at ArtisticEdge Studio where Rebecca and Tony Tomberlin hosted everyone who showed up to welcome them to our community. This is truly a family affair and something you must visit to see. Apparently their granddaughter who was attending the Cosmetology Program at Navarro College had a project where she had to basically open her own studio and from their ArtisticEdge suddenly became a reality and now a new business in downtown Corsicana. Their studio is located at 214 North Beaton Street and it is more than just a hair salon. Rebecca took us on a tour of their facility that included SPA services, a gift shop, and an area for little Princes Parties for those special little girls in our life. There was something about “Eye Kandy”; I think this is definitely a girly thing, where Sprinkles Glitter represents the very latest breakthrough in brilliant makeup and body shimmer? All Day endurance without flaking! Okay, so it is definitely for girls, but guys this is a wonderful place to send that “special” lady in your life for a day of pampering. Thanks to the Ambassadors, Board of Directors and others from the community who came out to participate in the ribbon cutting.
Please Remember to Buy Local! It is not always possible to buy everything you need from locally-owned businesses, but if everyone purchased one more item locally when they shopped, the effects would be tremendous. The point of this campaign is to encourage people to think local first: choose locally owned businesses when choosing where to buy goods and services. If there is some item or purchase you will be making, I encourage us all to think where we can get this in Corsicana and Navarro County. We as residents owe it to each other, our City and County to do our part as this is one way we can all pull together to make a difference.
