Nov. 16

Republican Party of Navarro County will hold its next county executive committee meeting at 7 p.m. on the seventh floor of the Bank of America building, 100 N. Main St., in downtown Corsicana. Frank Steed and Michael Evans will report on the Texas Secretary of State 14th Biennial Election Law Seminar for county chairmen held Nov. 6-7 in Austin. Thomas Ratliff, candidate for Texas State Board of Education District 9, will attend and be given an opportunity to speak. He will be running in the primary election against Republican incumbent Don McElroy. All registered voters are welcome to attend. For more information, reference the Web site at www.navgop.com.



Nov. 17

Kerens Masonic Lodge will have a stated meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the old city library. A meal will be served at 6:30 p.m. All Masons are invited.



Navarro County Republican Women will meet at 10 a.m. on the seventh floor of the Bank of America Building, 100 N. Main St., Corsicana, to pack and ship boxes to two U.S. military troops deployed from Texas. The group is collecting items and donations to pay for postage. Nov. 19

Workforce Solutions for North Central Texas will host a “Workforce Center Orientation” at 10 a.m. and a job search workshop on “Interview Tips” at 10 a.m. at its office, 720 N. Beaton St. “Basic PC Skills” training will be offered at 5:30 p.m. For more information, call (903) 874-8276.



Navarro College People for Active Living (PAL) will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Cook Center on the college campus. All people 55 and older are invited to attend. Bring a covered dish or dessert and come meet new friends. Drinks will be provided. Bingo will be played. Please bring canned goods for Navarro County Food Pantry. Bowie Elementary School third grade students will present a Thanksgiving program at 6:30 p.m. in the gym.



Navarro Elementary School fourth grade students will present “Broadway Beat,” with songs from Broadway musicals, at 7 p.m. in the school’s cafetorium.



Nov. 21

A ranch sorting will be held at Lonestar Cowboy Church, 4495 W. State Highway 22, to benefit Johnnie B. McLain, who was injured Oct. 31 while unloading a four-wheeler, when he was hit by a truck which left the roadway. A jackpot will take place at 5 p.m. with a drawpot at 7 p.m. There will also be a silent auction. For more information, call Katie at (903) 229-7413.



Family Story Hour will be held at 10 a.m. at the Richard M. Sanchez Library, located at the north end of the Navarro College campus, presented by Dr. Ruth Penque. The theme will be “Put on Your Cowboy Boots.” Guests are invited to dress in keeping with the theme. Children must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian. No reservations are needed. Chatfield Volunteer Fire Department will have its annual bazaar beginning at 8 a.m. at the fire station. There will be crafts, baked good and cookbooks for sale.



Nov. 23

Barry Masonic Lodge will have a stated meeting at 7:30 p.m. A meal will be served at 6:30 p.m. All Masons are invited.



Emhouse Community Center will have its Thanksgiving meeting and covered dish meal at 6 p.m. Everyone in the area is invited.



Nov. 24

Winkler Masonic Lodge will have a stated meeting at 7:30 p.m. A meal will be served at 6:30 p.m. All Masons are invited.



Through Nov. 25

A food drive will be held at Walmart and the big brown boxes are at the store’s entry points. Suggested items include peanut butter, canned vegetables, cereals, dry beans, boxed meals, dry rice, helper meals (i.e. Hamburger Helper, Tuna Helper), macaroni and cheese, canned meats, cornbread mix, rice, canned tuna, beans, canned spaghetti, canned chili and canned fruits. Dec. 4

Chatfield-Tupelo Community Center will have its annual Christmas party at 6 p.m. at the community center. Please bring a covered dish and a wrapped gift for the gift exchange.

City of Blooming Grove will hold its monthly city council meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Blooming Grove City Hall, 200 S. Fordyce St.



Dec. 10

Dec. 14
