Danny Ferrer named Farmer of the Year
Third generation farmer, Danny Ferrer of Rice, was named Farmer of the Year for Navarro County Wednesday.
His grandfather, Pascal Ferrer, came to Texas from Mexico in 1912. He farmed many areas in Navarro County starting in 1929, and his son, Baldomaro Sr. followed in his footsteps. Baldo set up his farming operation in Cryer Creek and Rice. His son Danny has known farming all his life, having first been on a tractor at age 8.
Danny started his own farming operation in 1983, and today, farms and ranches 1,500 acres in southern Ellis and Navarro Counties. He has been married to Belinda for 26 years, and they have two daughters, Danielle and Deanna.
Ferrer is an active member of the Texas AgriLife Extension Service Field Crops committee and a result demonstration cooperator, hosting the 2009 Grain Sorghum Variety Trial. He is an active member of Iglesia Bautista Calvario in Corsicana, and gives God the praise and glory for his success.
