The people give thanks
Community worship service tonight at college
From Staff Reports
A tradition of prayer and giving of thanks will be observed again tonight at Dawson Auditorium at Navarro College, as the annual community Thanksgiving worship service takes place beginning at 7 p.m.
The annual event brings together ministers and congregations of all faiths throughout the city and county, and offers a time to worship and give thanks during the holiday season.
This year’s service will be a bit different than in the past — it will include a dedication of the service to the late Dr. David Edwards, pastor of Corsicana’s First Baptist Church, who was killed in a car collision on Oct. 9 near Hubbard.
The service will feature a variety of elements, including scripture readings, special music, and several speakers who will address the season of Thanksgiving.
Among those slated to participate in tonight’s service are the Rev. Bob Loftis, the Rev. K.D. Davis, Chuck McElroy, the Rev. Darla Blatnik, Deacon Lewis Palos, Lamont Smith, the Rev. Mark Luera, the Rev. Dairy Johnson, the Rev. Arlene Thomas, and the Rev. Billy Elias. Special music will be shared by groups from First Baptist Church, First United Methodist Church, Bethlehem Baptist/Greater Love, Wayne Owen, and the Mens Wednesday Prayer Group.
The community Thanksgiving service is open to all faiths and denominations, and all in the community and county are welcome to attend the service.
