Volunteer NEW - Center of North Texas recognizes Corsicana volunteer

From Staff Reports

The American Red Cross-Dallas Area Chapter has announced that Rebekah Moss of Corsicana was honored by the Volunteer Center of North Texas for her outstanding contributions and dedicated service.

She has supported the American Red Cross for the past four years in many ways — supporting disaster relief efforts, teaching health and safety classes, representing the organization at community events and helping with fund-raising. Without a doubt, she has a gift for helping people face their worst hour and she shares that gift with others by mentoring and teaching new volunteers. Moss embodies all that the Red Cross stands for — a true humanitarian offering comfort and help to all whenever and wherever it is needed.

Along with Moss, 34 volunteers were recognized on Nov. 5 by the Volunteer Center of North Texas at its Lone Star Salute. Each volunteer received the President’s Volunteer Service Award, which included a personalized certificate, congratulatory letter signed by President Barak Obama and an official lapel pin for completing at least 100 community service hours.

Every day the American Red Cross empowers individuals to perform extraordinary acts in their community. Whether it is a hurricane or a heart attack; a call for blood or a call for help, the American Red Cross will be there with the help of dedicated individuals like Moss. If you are interested in becoming a part of a life-changing experience and joining the American Red Cross visit the Web site at www.redcrossdallas.org/corsicana or call (903) 874-4551.

The American Red Cross-Dallas Area Chapter has sheltered, fed and counseled victims of disaster; taught lifesaving skills and supported military members and their families across Navarro County since 1917. The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its humanitarian mission.
