Corsicana — Harmony Baptist Church, 400 East 12th Avenue, Corsicana will continue appreciation services for its pastor and wife, Bishop John Baker and Minister Vanessa Baker.  On Friday at 8 p.m., Open Door COGIC will be guests and Pastor David Thompson will bring the message. On Sunday, Aug. 1 at 11:30 a.m., Elder Roddy Thompson, Associate Minister at Ennis Mt. Zion Church, will bring the message. The services will conclude with the 4 p.m. service and Ennis Mt. Zion, Elder Rufus L. Gant, pastor will be the special guests. Elder Larry Rhone, Assistant Pastor, will bring the message. Other guests for this service will be: Macedonia Baptist Church, Streetman, Pastor Joe Hubbard Sr.; and also, Faith to Faith Ministries, Burleson, Pastor Ronald Williams and Gospel Springs International, Ft. Worth, Pastor William Laktari, both churches are associated with the Open the Blind Eyes True Holiness Ministry, Inc. under the leadership of Bishop John Baker. All are invited to come out and worship at each of these services. Dinner will be served after the morning service on Sunday.

 





The Corsicana Ministerial Alliance will meet for its regular meeting at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday the United Christian Fellowship building, 3301 W. 7th Ave. Lisa Godfrey from the Dale Carnegie Institute will bring a program on Effective Communication.     Faith Baptist Church, 109 FM 2452/West Highway 31 at Corbet Road, is holding its “Saddle Ridge Ranch” Vacation Bible School August 9-13 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. for cowboys and cowgirls that have completed grades Pre-K through 6th grade. The Buckaroos will be singing songs by the campfire, enjoying games at “Mustang Mountain,” crafts at the “Blazing Star Stables” and refreshments at the “Big Sky Grill.” They will also be learning at the “Bible Study Bunkhouse” — Need Answers?     House of Refuge Church of God in Christ, 413 FM 709 East in Dawson, where Elder Paul E. Puckett is pastor, is presenting a Summer Gospel Musical at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 7. Everyone is invited to join in the worship and music. At 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, the church is celebrating its 56th anniversary. All are invited to attend.     Men’s Community Prayer Breakfast will meet at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday in the Lone Star Room of the Walker Dining Hall on the Navarro College campus. This meeting is open to all men in the community.     Open Bible study and gospel singing is held every Thursday at the Senior Activity Center, 919 W. Park Ave., Corsicana. There is no cost to attend. Singing with Patrick and Nancy McCurrin and Hugh Parrish on guitars and Virginia Terry on piano is held from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Bible study is held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. with Peggy Smith as the teacher of this class.     Single Believers Ministries and First United Methodist Church are presenting a Back to School Gospel Fest fund-raiser at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 15, at Greater Love Outreach Fellowship Church, 700 East Park Avenue. Sunday Best Martha Buries will be in concert. Please bring a non-perishable food item or school supplies to this free event. Everyone is welcome. Host pastor is William Lewis.



Mildred Baptist Church is holding Vacation Bible School August 9-13 from 6:15 to 8:30 p.m. for age 4 years old through 5th grade (completed). Everyone is welcome! The children will be hearing Bible stories, doing crafts, playing games, given refreshments and participating in age appropriate activities. Kelly’s Temple COGIC and the Young Men’s Department is holding a one night youth revival Sunday, August 1, 7:30 p.m. at 501 N. 3rd St. in Corsicana. 13th Avenue Christian Church of Corsicana, invites the public to worship services on Sunday, August 1, at 3 p.m. to celebrate the church school annual. Guest speaker is The Rev. A.L. Faith Temple Ministries, North Highway 75, Corsicana is hosting their Second Annual Women of Royalty program Sunday at 4 p.m. August 1. The guest speaker is Pastor Numally of Jones Chapel Methodist church. The preceeding Saturday, July 31, the seminar will be held 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Breakfast will be served. Teaching will be Prophet M. Cottman of Cedar Hill, Pastor C.D. Daniels Sr., Pastor, and Pastor P.A. Rischer. Guest speaker is evangilist Angela Porter of Ft. Worth. Minister Eva Rischer is the president of WOE II.     Texas Slabs’ jerky has issued a voluntary recall notice, effective Friday, according to proprietor Scott McGinty.
    The company makes flavored beef jerky and is headquartered out of Mansfield. Some of the jerky was distributed in Corsicana in January.
