Nov. 12

Woodmen of the World Lodge 5's Thanksgiving meeting will be at the Lone Star Room of the Kenneth Walker Dining Hall at Navarro College at 6 p.m.  You must RSVP for this catered meal, please call Trudy at (903) 874-7050 to give a head count by Nov. 5.  Don't be late.

Nov. 13

Navarro Regional Hospital will hold a Diabetes Prevention Workshop once monthly for people with pre-diabetes or at risk for diabetes. These classese will be held on the second Tuesday of each month from 5 to 7 p.m. The Diabetes Self-Management Comprehensive Program is an ongoing class for patients diagnosed with diabetes. Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. at the Sirloin Stockade, 2508 West Seventh Ave, Corsicana. Membership is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between Feb. 28,1961 and May 7,1975, or in ANY duty location between Aug. 5,1964 and May 7,1975. The veteran must submit a copy of his/her DD Form 214 along with the application and dues. Members and guest are invited to come early and eat and visit prior to the meeting.



The Corsicana Emergency Corps., located at 416 South 12th Street in Corsicana, will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at 7 p.m.   The general public is invited to attend.  Monthly meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.  For further information, please call (903) 872-5072.



Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) will host Emily Carroll, R.N., Director of the Navarro County Health Department, at 1 p.m. at the local chapter meeting of NARFE. Ms. Carroll will focus on health concerns of senior citizens. The luncheon meeting will be held at the Sirloin Stockade Restaurant, 2508 West 7th Avenue in Corsicana. Nov. 14

Navarro Regional Hospital is hosting a blood drive on Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 3201 W. Highway 22 in the classrooms. For more information or to schedule an appointment time, contact Connie Beal at (903) 654-6800.



The Young People Committee at Kinsloe House will present an interesting and informative program on the “Quilts of Valor.” Clara Hickerson is the chairperson for the committee. Her committee members are Cindy Erwin, Barbara Watkins, Martha McCarter, Holly Gibson, Kay Hicks, and Jenna Hall. The Quilts of Valor will eventually be mailed to our Veterans Hospitals in America and Europe after a Quilt show honoring our Veterans on Feb. 9, 2013 in Ben Wheeler. There will be quilts on display at the program that have been made by the Piecemaker Quilt Guild in Corsicana as well as the Nacogdoches Quilt Guild. Nancy Kemp, resident at Cedar Creek Lake, will be telling about the quilts of valor. This program is truly inspirational during this election time. Nov. 15

Navarro County AARP Chapter 4653 will meet at 11:30 a.m. at Northwest Apartments Community Room, 1360 N. 13th St., Corsicana. The meeting will be the annual holiday lunch for employees at Northwest. Nov. 15-18



The Warehouse Living Arts Center Theatre will present the final show of the 2012 season with the opening of Jerry Herman’s MAME.  The large cast with Cristin Denbow in the title role is directed by David Timmerman and assisted  by Todd Jones. MAME, based on the novel by Patrick Dennis and the play “Auntie Mame” by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, will delight and entertain audiences with the captivating story and music.  Show dates are: Nov. 15-16 & 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. The show will be presented at the Palace Theatre at 112 W 6th Avenue. The newly organized Silver Dems will meet at 5 p.m. at the Navarro Democratic Party HQ at 416A W. Third Street (1 blk W of Court House).  We will be socializing and munching from plates that you bring so be generous with the sweet treats and wear your best smile.  We will soon be approving by-laws and electing officers and committees so your leadership skills will be needed.  Come and join the party! The group’s main purpose is to discuss and protect issues important to folks over 50 years young and educate ourselves on benefits from the government and civilian organizations that are available and earned by senior citizens and veterans.



Dec. 1

Authors of "Out of Our Minds," an anthology of the North Texas  Professional Writers Association, edited by local writer Janet Jacobs, will be signing copies of their book from 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Hasting's in Waxahachie, 791 North Highway 77.



The annual Corsicana Christmas Parade will begin at 6 p.m. downtown.



Navarro County Toy Run will leave the VFW, 4609 W. Hwy 31 at 11 a.m. for a scenic country ride that ends up back at the VFW. Cars, bikes and clubs all welcome! Kerens Garden Club will present its Tour of Homes and Winter Wonderland from 2 to 5 p.m. Tickets are $10.
