Navarro Regional Hospital in Corsicana will celebrate its 30th anniversary in its present location this year. Navarro Regional continually strives to make improvements in patient care, the facility, as well as creating increased awareness about different health concerns in the community. February is American Heart Month and a great way to kick off 30 years of service with a bang.
If you saw a lot of people dressed in red on Friday, Feb. 1, there was a good reason. National Wear Red Day celebrated its 10th anniversary. The “wearing of the red” is all part of a national campaign by the American Heart Association to raise awareness of the risks and facts associated with heart disease and women during American Heart Month. Navarro Regional took part in this celebration by inviting all employees to wear in honor of our cardiac patients as well as friends and family who have suffered from some type of cardiac health issue. Employees wearing red gathered for an aerial photo taken from the roof of the hospital as they formed the shape of a heart.
“We are excited about the opportunities we have to bring awareness about this important health issue. Our hospital continues to support these observances as a way to further educate residents on the importance of heart health,” said Chief Executive Officer Xavier Villarreal.
Also, in celebration of this month, Navarro Regional Hospital has lit up the rooftop in beautiful red lights to show their support for this observance. You can view the lights at anytime in the evening outside the hospital from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. This is yet another way we are aiming to create more awareness in the community about the importance of heart health.
Along with these efforts, the Healthy Woman and Senior Circle programs will be having heart health related events in the month of February. Senior Circle hosted a lunch and learn on Feb. 6 with Navarro Regional emergency room physician and Assistant ER Director Zachary Drain, M.D. He spoke on the early warning signs of a heart attack. Healthy Woman, will have its annual “Fitness Night at the Y,” held at the Corsicana YMCA on Feb. 26 at 5:30 p.m. For more information about this event, contact Healthy Woman Coordinator Anna Paul, at 903-654-6871. This event is free to the public. Space is limited and RSVPs are required.
In addition, Eron Crouch, M.D., board certified cardiologist and member of the medical staff at Navarro Regional Hospital, will be offering free health screenings in his clinic on Feb. 21. Health screenings include: cholesterol, hypertension, lipid profile, BMI and vital signs. Appointments can be made from 8:30 to 11 a.m.. and 2 – 4:30 p.m. The clinic is located at 400 Hospital Drive, Suite 101, in Corsicana next to the hospital. Please call 903-641-3800 to setup an appointment.
Navarro Regional Hospital is committed to providing quality healthcare to residents of Navarro County. Increased awareness in important health concerns is one of many ways to excel in this initiative.
