The Austin couple arrested in Corsicana and then charged in Athens and Ennis for allegedly stealing tailgates off of pickup trucks has more recently been arrested in Killeen and Belton for the same kinds of crimes.
Tracy Melissa Holland, 45; and Russell Orville Jenkins Jr., 43, were charged with felony theft in Killeen on Nov. 16 and booked into the Bell County Jail. The City of Belton filed additional charges of felony theft on them late last week while they were still in jail.
As of Monday afternoon, they remained in the Bell County Jail in lieu of $70,000 bond each, according to the Bell County Sheriff’s Office’s on-line jail log.
When the couple was arrested in Corsicana, they had a total of 10 allegedly stolen tailgates in their room and in their truck. Police believe the couple would set up in a central location, then hit the dealerships in nearby towns for tailgates.
They were found through an ad on Craigslist by Ennis Police Detective Jason York, who tracked them down and arrested them for alleged tailgate stealing in Ennis. Athens Police also charged them with felony theft because of missing tailgates in that city.
The couple bonded out of the Ellis County Jail on Nov. 2, each facing two counts of felony theft, for a total of $20,000 bond each.
The Austin Police Department has an interest in speaking with Jenkins regarding an unrelated home burglary.
