Corsicana —     Mildred Baptist Church will host a revival from Sept. 26 to 29 featuring Evangelist Paul Vick, who will bring his music and message to the revival. The Sunday services will be at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. The Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday services will be at 7 p.m. The church is located at 5502 S. Highway 287 in Mildred.     Word of Life Tabernacle Church of God in Christ will have the 22nd Appreciation Sunday on Sept. 5. The pastor is Elder Lee J. and Missionary Creola Keeton Sr. Everyone is invited to attend. Guests will be the Rev. Johnnie Moss, pastor of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Oakwood; Elder David Thompson, pastor of Open Door Church of God in Christ; Elder Elijah Baptist, pastor of Griffin Chapel Church of God in Christ; Elder David Houston, pastor of Greater Crossway; Elder Joseph Johnson, pastor of Johnson Memorial Church of God in Christ will bring the message. The MC will be Missionary Cherilyn Moss, scripture reading by Sis. Barbara Jackson, prayer by Deacon James E. Moss, and the welcome by Sis. Vadell Johnson. Everyone is welcome.





    Bethel African Methodist Episcopalian Church Young People’s Department will present the musical “Sing Your Heart Out For Jesus” at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the church, 101 N. 4th St. Refreshments will be served following the presentation.



    Church of the Living God, 917 G. W. Jackson Street in Corsicana will be serving plate lunches on Labor Day Monday, Sept. 6, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The menu will be BBQ chicken, links or fried fish, with potato salad, red beans, cornbread and homemade pound cake. The donation is $6 for the meal. Deliveries are available by calling 903-875-2463.



    Harmony Baptist Church, 400 East 12th Avenue, Corsicana, and Bishop John Baker, and First Lady Vanessa Baker, invite everyone to share with them in their Family and Friends Day Service on Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010 at 3:30 p.m. Theme scripture will be “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” Pastor Ronald Williams and Faith to Faith Ministries, Burleson, will serve as guest church for this occasion. They welcome friends and family throughout the community to come and join in this special celebration.



    Johnson Memorial Church of God in Christ celebrates the 20th Pastoral Anniversary of Eld. Joseph Johnson, Sr., with a banquet, 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at Lifeline Fellowship Family Church, 5301 W. State Hwy. 31, Corsicana, led by Pastor Rickey Walters. The banquet is $20 and includes guest speaker Eld. H.B. Horn of Greater Mt. Calvary COGIC, Dallas. There will also be an Anniversary Service at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12 at Johnson Memorial Church of God in Christ, 1700 S. Business 45, Corsicana, Pastored by Joseph Johnson.     Kerens Church of the Living God, P.G.T.,141 S. Hwy. 309, Kerens, will host a church anniversary celebration at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 12. A revival will begin at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 13, 14 and 15. Dr. Wheeler Jones of the Baxter Street Church of the Living God P.G.T. will be the guest speaker for both events at the church. The public is invited to celebrate with the church.



    Kerens Missionary Baptist Church announces information on regular services of the church: 10 a.m. Sunday School, 11 a.m. Worship Service, 6 p.m. Sunday Evening Service, and 7 p.m. Wednesday Evening Service. At 2:30 p.m., on the first Sunday of each month services are held at Kerens Care Center. Wednesday evening services focus on the study of different books of the Bible. It is the desire and privilege of the churches to minister to those in Kerens who are not attending other churches regularly. A warm welcome is awaiting those who worship at Kerens Missionary Baptist Church.



    MAAG (Methodist Active Adult Group) will open their new year  at 11 a.m. on Sept. 8 at the First United Methodist Church, Ennis. All are invited to share this special day which will include entertainment from the musical talent of Charles Newman. Invite a friend or two, bring a veggie, salad, or desert.     Men’s Community Prayer Breakfast will meet at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, in the Lone Star Room of the Walker Dining Hall on the Navarro College campus. This meeting is open to all men in the community. The main emphasis is prayer for the community with interceding for leaders, schools, institutions, government and churches in the community. For more information call (903) 874-5561.



    Ministerial Alliance will meet at 11 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 7) at the LaPrada restaurant on W. 7th Ave. All ministers are invited for a free lunch but they must R.S.V.P. to Dan Layne at (903) 872-7299 by noon Monday. Lunch is being hosted by Ron Smith at Corley’s.



    Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 2105 E. Jones Ave., will gather at 11 a.m. Sept. 5 to hear guest speaker Pastor Larry Hooks of Hillwood Missionary Baptist Church of Spencer, Okla., affiliated with the National Missionary Baptist Convention of America. Please join us and hear this dynamic speaker.



    Northside Baptist Church, 2800 North Beaton Street is beginning a program called Grief Share, a non-denominational weekly support group for people grieving the death of someone close. The finality of death is hard to accept, and Grief Share is a place to be around people who understand the pain of loss. This support group will begin meeting 5 to 7 p.m., Sept. 12, in the Fellowship Center (small white house across from the parking lot) 222 Forest Lane, Corsicana. Meetings will consist of three components: Video seminar, Grief Share workbook, and group discussion. The Grief Share group is open to everyone. The only expense is the $10 workbook.     Open Bible study and gospel singing is held every Thursday at the Senior Activity Center, 919 W. Park Ave., Corsicana. There is no cost to attend. Singing will be from 10 to 10:30 a.m. with Patrick and Nancy McCurrin, Hugh Parrish on guitars, and Virginia Terry on the piano, then from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Peggy Smith is teaching Bible study.     Unity Baptist Church, 406 S. 34th St., Corsicana, and Pastor Chad Owens, announces service information: 9:45 a.m. Sunday school, 11 a.m. worship service and children’s church, 5 p.m. Bible study classes, and 6 p.m. evening worship service, 7 p.m. Wednesday prayer meeting and Kings Kids meets the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month. Tuesday a group from Unity visits shut-ins. Bible study is held at Northwest Apartments Community Center 7 p.m. every Thursday. David Nelson Teaches at Twilight Nursing Home 9 a.m. every Sunday.   • North Texas firm announces jerky recall

    Texas Slabs’ jerky has issued a voluntary recall notice, effective Friday, according to proprietor Scott McGinty.
    The company makes flavored beef jerky and is headquartered out of Mansfield. Some of the jerky was distributed in Corsicana in January.
