As expected, the Navarro Bulldogs (9-0) became the new No. 1 team in the NJCCA poll released Tuesday. Surprisingly, Navarro did not receive all seven first place votes as Blinn (8-1) had been getting.
Blinn, No. 1 before a 23-20 loss to the Bulldogs, fell to No. 4.
Fort Scott (Kan.) moved from No. 3 to No. 2 after a 14-10 win over Butler (Kan.), which was No. 4 last week, and opened the season No. 1 before losing to Blinn. Fort Scott received the other first place vote.
Tyler (7-2) is No. 14 this week, up a spot, and travels to Blinn Saturday in the first round ot the Southwestern Junior College Football Conference playoffs. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
Navarro hosts Kilgore (4-5) at 3 p.m. Saturday in the other semifinal.
Navarro Athletic Director Roark Montgormey also announced Tuesday afternoon that if the Bulldogs win Saturday, the championship game the following week would be played at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15 at Tiger Stadium, which has a Class 5A playoff game scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 14.
