Navarro buckled down on defense Monday night, and it paid off with an impressive early-season victory.
The No. 8 Runnin’ Bulldogs rallied from an 11-point second-half deficit to beat Hill, 76-71, on Monday night in a non-conference showdown in Hillsboro.
Matt Pressey and Keith Denson had 17 points each to lead Navarro. Jordain Allou had 15 points and Greg Allen had 8.
Jantzen Carter and Cortrell Estridge had 6 points each.
Hill led 39-32 at the half, but Navarro took over the lead at the 13- minute mark with full-court pressure
Kenny Sharpe, who had five points, had three steals during the stretch. Carter also contributed.
“Kenny had a heck uva a game defensively,” Navarro assistant coach Eric Colbert said. “We needed that, having to grind it out.”
