The Navarro College Department of Theatre presents Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple directed by Daryl R. Worley. Each performance begins at 7 p.m. All performances will be given in the Black Box Theatre, located on the second floor of the AB Building, just above the NC Bookstore. Nov. 1

American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 320 N.15th in Corsicana, Texas.



Blooming Grove Crime Watch will meet at 7 p.m. at the Blooming Grove Fire Station. The speaker will be Navarro County Deputy Sheriff Scott Wiley. Light refreshments will be served and everyone is welcome.

Nov. 3

Navarro County NAACP presents the Fifth Annual Freedom Fund Banquet, 1114 E. Sixth Ave., Corsicana at 7 p.m. at the MLK Center. The theme is “Your power, your vote, your decision.” Speaker will be Dr. Jamal Randy Allen Rasheed, Ph.D. The branch will also be honoring Mr. Leonard and Glynda Dixon, and two special families of the community. Tickets are $20. Dinner will be served.



Northland Communications is proud to present Movie Night on the Green at 6:30 p.m. There will be a showing of Madagascar 3 at Fullerton-Garrity Park Amphitheater, with free popcorn and drinks. Admission is free — simply bring friends and family, blanket or lawn chair, and canned food for the Food Pantry.



Emhouse Community Center will hold a Fish Fry Fundraiser beginning at 11:30 a.m. Please come out and support the community center by purchasing fish and all the trimmings.

Corsicana’s Annual Harvest Festival and Car Show/Food Drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration for the car show ends at 1 p.m. at the Corsicana Visitor’s Center (South end of Beaton and Seventh Ave.). There will be food vendors, music, and lots of awards for the best factory hot rod, best import, best bike and more. Registration is $10 with a donation to the Navarro County Food Pantry. Kinsloe House will host its First Sunday Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Everyone is invited. Members and non-members must call the Kinsloe House at (903) 874-5791 by Nov.1 by 3 p.m. to make reservations. You must give the time you wish to come and what you wish to eat.  You may also call Jeani at (903) 229-5787 or email her at mamjeani@yahoo.com with your menu, reservations, and your dining time. The menu will be Wisconsin Cheese soup with dippers. The entrée selections will be roast turkey with gravy or classic pineapple baked ham with classic southern dressing, buttery mashed potatoes, sweet corn and  with it all will be Miss Debra’s wonderful rolls. Dessert will be pumpkin spice sheet cake with caramel pecan frosting or simply southern banana pudding. Cost will be $13 per person. It’s a great place to come for a good meal, catching up on things with friends, and visiting. Everyone always has a great time.

The Southern Pacific Sunbeam Club will meet at IHOP in Ennis. This will be another day of food, fun and fellowship while plans are discussed for the upcoming holiday activities. The whistle will blow at 11:30 a.m. for all railroaders, both active and retired, for relatives and friends of railroaders, and those who love a train.



The Corsicana Rotary Club will celebrate election day with a reception from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at The Cook Center. All candidates are invited to the reception tent near the Air Force Fighter. The chili is from a winning contest recipe and the Rotarians will greet you with open arms.

ABWA Committee of Kinsloe House will present its program for the year. The program features well-known singers Byron Haynie and Zanada Talley Shoppert in a delightful musical program featuring country and western songs. A one day Driver Safety Program will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Navarro Regional Hospital located at 3210 W. Highway 22 in Corsicana. The refresher course is designed for drivers 50 years of age and older, but is open to anyone. The cost of the course is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. All veterans and their spouses can take the course free. Attendees may qualify for reductions in auto-mobile insurance premiums for three years upon completion of the course. When Are We Going Home Ministry’s Riding High Horsemanship program will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Break N Free camp at 4719 NE CR 1040 in Rice. This is a free riding program for medically challenged, disabled and special needs children 0-21 and their immediate siblings. Lunch is included. The Navarro County Genealogy Society will meet at 10 a.m. for its quarterly meeting. After a business meeting to elect officers a program on cemeteries will be presented by Norman and Dana Stubbs. Information on local Navarro County Cemeteries will be shared in the program along with important landmarks in the area to aid in genealogy research. Navarro Regional Hospital will hold a Diabetes Prevention Workshop once monthly for people with pre-diabetes or at risk for diabetes. These classese will be held on the second Tuesday of each month from 5 to 7 p.m. The Diabetes Self-Management Comprehensive Program is an ongoing class for patients diagnosed with diabetes. Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. at the Sirloin Stockade, 2508 West Seventh Ave, Corsicana. Membership is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between Feb. 28,1961 and May 7,1975, or in ANY duty location between Aug. 5,1964 and May 7,1975. The Warehouse Living Arts Center Theatre will present the final show of the 2012 season with the opening of Jerry Herman’s MAME.  The large cast with Cristin Denbow in the title role is directed by David Timmerman and assisted  by Todd Jones. MAME, based on the novel by Patrick Dennis and the play “Auntie Mame” by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, will delight and entertain audiences with the captivating story and music.  Show dates are: Nov. 15-16 & 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. The show will be presented at the Palace Theatre at 112 W 6th Avenue. Third Street (1 blk W of Court House).  We will be socializing and munching from plates that you bring so be generous with the sweet treats and wear your best smile.  We will soon be approving by-laws and electing officers and committees so your leadership skills will be needed.  Come and join the party! The group’s main purpose is to discuss and protect issues important to folks over 50 years young and educate ourselves on benefits from the government and civilian organizations that are available and earned by senior citizens and veterans.
