Corsicana — Editor's note: In the story “Grand Jury indicts 51” that appeared in the Friday, March 22 edition of the Daily Sun, the subject listed as “Terry Knight” is further identified as Terry Lynn Knight of Ennis, who was indicted on charges of possession of a controlled substance over four grams/under 200 grams with intent to deliver, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

The Navarro County Grand Jury met Thursday, indicting 51 people on charges ranging from drug possession to aggravated robbery. An indictment is a not a finding of guilt or innocence, but is the opinion of the jury that enough evidence exists to take a case to court.

Among the people indicted were Jamie Davis and Jason Poindexter, who are charged with aggravated robbery for allegedly stealing a cash machine from Arizona Charlie’s Bingo in Rice in late January, according to District Attorney Lowell Thompson.

Mark Green, who had been indicted before, was re-indicted. Derrick Moss is charged with aggravated assault for allegedly attacking someone else with a knife at the Waffle House. Rodney Spahn’s aggravated assault charge stemmed from an altercation between two former classmates who got into a fight on Christmas day at Napoli’s. In that case, the victim received a broken jaw, Thompson said.

Two cases of sexual assault of a child were filed. In both cases, the victims knew the attacker.



The Grand Jury indicted the following people Thursday, according to the Navarro County District Attorney:

• Charles Allen, possession of a prohibited substance in a correctional facility;

• Mark Bassham, possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram;

• Nikki Baston, credit card abuse;

• Kandace Benningfield, possession of a controlled substance, greater than four grams, less than 200 grams, with intent to deliver;

• Justin Brown, tampering with physical evidence;

• Terrance Brown, possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility;

• Jorge Canto, possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram;

• Jimmy Crawford, injury to a child    ;

• Carlton Craft, possession of marijuana, more than four ounces and less than five pounds; and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon;

• Jamie Davis, aggravated assault;

• Sean Delval, possession of marijuana, more than four ounces and less than five pounds;

• Eric Dickey, possession of a controlled substance, more than one gram, less than four grams; and tampering with physical evidence;

• Shane Dozier, possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram;

• Charles Eckhart, possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram;

• Christopher Farris, injury to a child;

• Robert Farris, possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram;

• Karne Fitch, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram;

• Gilberto Gomez, continued sexual abuse of a child;

• Michael Govan, possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram;

• Gary Gravitt, possession of a controlled substance, more than four grams, less than 200;

• Ruben Heredia, possession of a controlled substance, more than four grams, less than 200;

• Debra Jessa, theft;

• James Jones, burglary of a building, and two counts of burglary of a home;

• Ronald Jones, theft and evading arrest with a vehicle;

• Terry Lynn Knight of Ennis, possession of a controlled substance, more than four grams, less than 200 with intent to deliver, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon;

• James Keels, possession of a controlled substance, more than four grams, less than 200 with intent to deliver; and tampering with physical evidence;

• David Maddox, possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram;

• Michael Mallory, burglary of building;

• Alexis Martinez, possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram;

• Gabrielle Mathis, injury to a child;

• Michelle McIntire, possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility;    

• Miguel Mendoza, aggravated sexual assault;

• Neal Merchant, possession of a controlled substance, more than four grams, less than 200;        

• Derrick Moss, aggravated assault;

• Bryan Nutt, theft;

•  Ikenna Nwajiaku, tampering with physical evidence;

•  Daniel Peddicord, possession of marijuana, more than four ounces and less than five pounds;    

• Raul Perez-Basulto, theft;

• Jason Poindexter, aggravated robbery;

• Jose Rivera, possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility;

• Rodney Spahn, aggravated assault;

• Jerry Spears, possession of marijuana, more than four ounces and less than five pounds;            

• Will Steinmann, possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram;        

• William Talley, possession of a controlled substance, more than four grams, less than 200 with intent to deliver;

• Abel Trejo, indecency with a child;

•  Brandi Vaughan, injury to a child, and abandonment/endangerment to a child;

• Robert Vaughan, injury to a child, and abandonment/endangerment to a child;            

• Christine Villator, possession of a controlled substance, more than four grams, less than 200

• Mark Green, continued sexual abuse of a child.
