Warehouse honors volunteers at annual meeting

Corsicana — Paying tribute to the volunteer spirit was the order of business Wednesday as the Warehouse Living Arts Center held its annual awards presentation at Corsicana’s community theater.

The annual celebration also served as a “changing of the guard” as new board members and officers were seated at the meeting.

Those honored at Wednesday’s ceremony included:

Nancy Philo, who was awarded the 2012 Volunteer of the Year Award for distinguished service. Philo volunteered countless hours in the costume shop and box office at the Warehouse during the past year.

Fran Stroud was presented the 2012 Nancy Roberts Award for Excellence in Music. Stroud has contributed immeasurably to the success of musical productions at the Warehouse by either participating as an accomplished musician or performer for many years.

A special award was also presented to Janet Martin, an outgoing member of the Warehouse board, and volunteer and performer in numerous Warehouse productions over the years.

New board members elected Wednesday include Brad Cook, Lynda Green, Todd Jones, Dan Owen and Emmy Sowell.

New officers for the Warehouse Living Arts Center are Susan Johnson, president; Carolyn Bancroft, vice-president; Lynda Green, secretary; Tom Hecker, treasurer.

Other board members for the community theater organization include Grace Harper, Sandra Huffman, Belinda Adams, Gary Douglas, Frank Hull, Sarah Keathley and Gina Middleton.

The first production of the 2013 season at the Warehouse — The Marvelous Wonderettes — opens on Feb. 14. For tickets or more information, contact the Warehouse at (903) 872-5421.
