Corsicana — First Baptist Church Corsicana will be bustling with activity Nov. 12-19 as members seek to pack 750 gift-filled shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, Navarro County’s largest contribution to the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind. The goal is to brighten the lives of millions of needy children around the world. You and your family can participate by filling and packing a box, just call First Baptist Church at (903) 874-3791 or Nanette Bray at (903) 874-8324. She is the collection site coordinator and can also help provide you with shoe boxes and information.



DBU Worship Team from Dallas Baptist University will perform a free concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3 at New Beginnings Family Fellowship in Blooming Grove. All are welcome to come.





First Baptist Church of Eureka, 8718 Hwy 287 South, will sponsor an outdoor Community Family Movie Night at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16. There will be no charge to watch the movie. We will have hot dogs, popcorn and drinks for sale for those who would like to donate to our building fund. Bring lawn chairs or blankets and the family out for an evening of fun. (if weather is bad we will move inside) More details to come. Sunday service is at 10:45 a.m., first and third Wednesdays, prayer service; second and fourth Wednesdays, Ladies Night; fifth Wednesdays, Youth Night; first Saturdays of each month Men's fellowship.



Lone Star Cowboy Church of Navarro County, located at 4495 W. State Hwy. 22, invites all to join us for our Sunday Church Services starting at 10 a.m. There is nursery for babies through age 2 years and activities for 3 and 4 year olds. Children ages 5 through 12 are invited to meet in the children’s building for Children’s Church.  There are also the following activities, Monday Nights at 7 p.m., Mounted Shooting; Tuesday 7 p.m., Team Roping and Women’s fellowship. 7 p.m. each Wednesday is Bible Study and Youth Service. Barrel racing is held at 7 p.m. on Thursday.



The Cracked Pots at the  Cowboy Church of Ennis are hosting the “Baggy Bottom Boys” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8.  All ages are invited to join us as we enjoy this country Gospel group. Admission is free and desserts will be served after the concert.  This will be a great evening of entertainment ... see you there.  Hwy I45, exit 244.



Church of Grace Without Walls Ministry extends greetings to all precious souls. Johnson Memorial Church of God in Christ, 1600 S. Bus. Hwy 45, invites the public to attend its Chat and Chew Bible Study each Tuesday at 7 p.m. Elder Joseph Johnson Sr., senior pastor of Johnson Memorial, will be the teacher. Please come and be a part of this prophetic teaching.



Open Bible Study is held every Thursday morning at the Senior Activity Center, with singing beginning at 10 a.m. Bible Study is from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., and everyone is welcome. For more information, contact Fred Biltz at (903) 654-4979.



Dayspring Fellowship, 111 W. Collin, invites you to worship on Sundays at 10 a.m. and Wednesdays at 7 p.m. This church is no longer located at the Taylorosa, but rather downtown on W. Collin. For more information, please call (903) 872-5466. Pastor Dan Layne hosts a program on Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. on KAND AM.



Northside Baptist Church will host the 165 voice Goldenaires Choir of First Baptist, Richardson.  Since it’s founding in 1984, this senior adult choir has sung in a variety of places such as churches, nursing homes, retirement center, civic functions and homeless shelters in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Gerald Ware is director of the Goldenaires and Dr. Ellis Orozco is senior pastor of First Baptist Richardson. The Goldenaires will be performing on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 6 p.m. at the Northside Baptist Church.  Northside is located at 2800 North Beaton.  Everyone is invited to attend.



God’s Holy Temple Church of God in Christ, 301 N. Third Ave., invites you to “A Jerusalem Experience Conference” at 7 p.m. Nov. 5. Host pastor is Eric Grant Sr. and First Lady Jacquelyn Grant. Experience the ministry of Bishop k.d. davis sr. of Sixth Avenue Baptist Church; Pastor William Lewis of Greater Love Outreach Fellowship will be on Nov. 6; Nov. 7 will be Pastor David Thompson of Open Door COGIC; Nov. 8 will be Pastor E. Sample Sr. of Victory Sanctuary COGIC; Pastor C.D. Washington of Greater Haynes Temple is Nov. 9; and Nov. 10 will be Women’s Night, with Evangelist Valorie Horn.



The New Rising Star District Association of Dallas, Congress of Christian  Workers announces its Fifth Annual Women’s Conference at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 409 N. Third, Corsicana. The theme is: A Call Worth Answering, from scripture 2 Timothy 1:9. Women allowing God to use them. Registration is $10.



Church on the Rock in Rice, Texas will hold a good old fashioned gospel singing from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3. The first hour will be open mic, followed by the Unity Heirs Band. Refreshments will be served following the concert. Church on the Rock will hold a singing the first Saturday of each month.



Ebenezer Baptist Church, Powell, will observe its annual Harvest Day Celebration at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4. Guests will be The Rev. Samuel Washington and The New Hope Baptist Church of Kerens. Dinner will be served. Mistress of the hour will be Sis. Eulander Yarbough. Host Pastor Dr. Arella Moore. Come one, come all for a glorious time in the Lord!



Unity Baptist Church, 101 S. 30th St., where Chad Owens is pastor, invites you to services: Sunday School 9:45 a.m. Sunday worship and children’s church at 11 a.m., worship at 6 p.m., and Wednesday - Prayer meeting at 7 p.m. Kings Kids class meets the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month. Tuesday, a group from Unity visits shut-ins. Thursday, there is a Bible study at Northwest Apartments Community Center at 7 p.m. This Saturday a group will sing at Kerens Care Center.  Sunday, a group teaches and sings at Twilight Nursing Home at 9 a.m. and another group sings at Country Meadows at 2 p.m.  For transportation to services, call (903)872-2861. A nursery is open for church services.



Divine Dreams Ministries will hold a Support Fundraiser at Amelia Barton C.O.T.L.G.,  917 G.W. Jackson St., Corsicana, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3 until sold out. This event is to help raise money to support families in need. Please come by and give a donation of just $3 toward this goal being achieved.   • City to consider rules for airport, swear in new attorney

    The Corsicana City Council will swear in the new city attorney, and consider requests for money from local charities when the group meets in regular session at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the council chambers of the Government Center, 200 N. 12th St. The new city attorney will be Kerri Anderson Donica. She ran unopposed for the position, along with Municipal Judge Mike Russell.

    People who were missing in the wake of the destructive tornadoes in North Texas have been found safe, officials said Friday, but they didn't indicate when residents of one hard-hit neighborhood will be allowed to return to survey damage to their homes.

  • Police department open house Tuesday

    The renovation of the Corsicana Police Department got a bit more involved than it was originally intended to. An error with some concrete resulted in water flooding city hall, and forcing replacement of carpeting and flooring. As well, the renovations quickly led to renovations of the municipal court, as well.
