Corsicana —

The Navarro County commissioners are going to seek an independent appraisal of the former Griffin property co-owned by the city and county. The decision was made late Friday in a special meeting of the commissioners.

The property consists of 205 acres, which is being used for grazing county cows, according to the sheriff and County Judge H.M. Davenport.

Many of the cows are offspring of a confiscation about 20 years ago, Davenport said.

The county will have the property appraised, and then can consider some offers to sell the land.

The city owns two-thirds of the property and is trying to sell it along with another property to pump revenue into the city treasury.
