Corsicana — Trinity Assembly of God, 109 FM 2452, (three miles past Wal-Mart on Hwy 31, south side) will host Express Praise in concert Sunday, Aug. 5 at 10:45 a.m. Mark Douglas, son of the late Wayne Douglas, and his wife Penney and their four children comprise the group Express Praise, based in Arkansas. Pastor James Williams invites everyone to come hear this wonderful family group in concert.





The Cracked Pots meet on the second Thursday of each month at the Cowboy Church of Ennis (Hwy I-45 exit 244). This is a 55-plus group gathering for food and fun. All senior in the community (and Corsicana) are welcome to join. Next meeting is 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9. The Movarians Band will entertain with a varied genre of music. Bring a covered dish and come join the fun!



Kelly’s Temple COGIC, 501 N. Third, Corsicana, and Elder Billy Joe Kelly invite you to a soul-saving revival at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012 and Monday and Tuesday evenings (Aug. 6 and Aug. 7) at 7:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Co-pastor Earlean Williams of The Greater Deliverance COGIC of Waxahachie. Come looking for a blessing, deliverance and to be saved.



Missionary Baptist Church located at 405 S. 15th Street in Corsicana invites you to join us in worship this week. Sunday School begins at 9:45 a.m. followed by Morning Worship at 10:45 a.m. Sunday Evening Worship begins at 4 p.m. The series of lessons on testimony and witnessing continues at 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening. Please join us for all of these services as we celebrate Christ in worship, praise and study of the scriptures.



Straight Way Missionary Baptist Church, 400 S. 15th, Corsicana, and Pastor A. E. Smith invite the public to Vacation Bible School. It is 6 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 14-16, ages baby through adults. Everyone is invited to come out and have a great time learning about our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. There will be fabulous lessons, music, arts, crafts, games, and food! On Friday Aug. 17, there will be a swim party from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Jester Park Pool.

Lone Star Cowboy Church of Navarro County, located at 4495 W. State Hwy. 22, invites all to join us for our Sunday Church Services starting at 10 a.m. There is nursery for babies through age 2 years and activities for 3 and 4 year olds. Children ages 5 through 12 are invited to meet in the children’s building for Children’s Church.  There are also the following activities, Monday Nights at 7 p.m., Mounted Shooting; Tuesday 7 p.m., Team Roping and Women’s fellowship. 7 p.m. each Wednesday is Bible Study and Youth Service. Single Believer Ministries announces its new radio time at 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. every Sunday on KAND 1340 AM. Johnson Memorial Church of God in Christ, 1600 S. Bus. Hwy 45, invites the public to attend its Chat and Chew Bible Study each Tuesday at 7 p.m. Elder Joseph Johnson Sr., senior pastor of Johnson Memorial, will be the teacher. Please come and be a part of this prophetic teaching.

First Baptist Church of Eureka would like to invite anyone looking for a friendly, casual, family oriented, accepting and welcoming, home church to join us. Sunday Services: Doors open at 10:30 a.m. for anyone needing prayer, fellowship, or just some quiet time with God; 10:45 to 11 a.m. Prayer; 11 a.m. Morning worship; 11:15 a.m. Children’s church begins; and  6 p.m. for Evening Worship. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, 1114 E. Sixth, Corsicana, will be the site of the Buffalo Trinity State Divine Healing Revival from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. nightly Aug. 15-17. “And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul, so that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.” Acts 19: 11, 12. Bishop L. O. Mills, Seer, will be the speaker. Prepare to be healed.

    For more than 10 years, Navarro County and the City of Corsicana have co-hosted a county-wide clean-up day. For most residents, it means an opportunity to take their bulk trash to the city’s landfill for free.

  • City to consider rules for airport, swear in new attorney

    The Corsicana City Council will swear in the new city attorney, and consider requests for money from local charities when the group meets in regular session at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the council chambers of the Government Center, 200 N. 12th St. The new city attorney will be Kerri Anderson Donica. She ran unopposed for the position, along with Municipal Judge Mike Russell.

    People who were missing in the wake of the destructive tornadoes in North Texas have been found safe, officials said Friday, but they didn't indicate when residents of one hard-hit neighborhood will be allowed to return to survey damage to their homes.

  • Police department open house Tuesday

    The renovation of the Corsicana Police Department got a bit more involved than it was originally intended to. An error with some concrete resulted in water flooding city hall, and forcing replacement of carpeting and flooring. As well, the renovations quickly led to renovations of the municipal court, as well.
