Wade to speak at Tuesday’s DBSA meeting

Karol Wade, M.A., L.P.C., will be the speaker Tuesday at the Navarro County Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA). Her topic will be “Wellness Strategies: Journey to Wellness and Recovery.” The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the upstairs fellowship hall at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 101 N. 14th St. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with a free literature table, refreshments and door prizes.
Wade is a licensed professional counselor with a private practice in Corsicana, treating children and adults. She is owner and operator of the Wade Wellness Center, which is a consulting, training and counseling center for families and consumers.
In addition to her private practice, Wade is the contract mental health consultant for Community Education Centers Inc. This company owns 14 private prisons and jails in Texas. Each week she visits the Limestone Detention Center in Groesbeck and the Polk County Detention Center in Livingston, where she manages mental health treatment detainees. Wade is the social worker for the Indigent MHMR Legal Defense Grant in Limestone/Freestone counties where she assists the MHMR attorneys in the maintenance and defense of the indigent mentally ill. Wade is the consultant and clinical director of the City of Houston Community Reentry Network for Ex-Offenders.
Wade’s experience includes acting as profiler to Texas Department of Criminal Justice-ID Northern Region Hostage Negotiation Team, clinician to the Regional Post Trauma Team, academy trainer, clinical social worker, associate clinical psychologist and responsible psychotherapist.
Wade earned both B.A. and M.A. degrees from Sam Houston State University. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in criminology and corrections in 1981 and her Master of Arts degree in psychology and clinical psychology in 1993.
Her educational presentation will provide ways to align principles and behavior for a more successful journey to emotional wellness and recovery. A question-and-answer session will follow her talk. All are invited to attend this special event.
