Corsicana —
The Navarro Council of the Arts is pleased to present their newest exhibit at the Warehouse Gallery, Edie Richards. The Warehouse Gallery is located at 119 West Sixth Avenue, in the downtown Arts District.
Edie Richards graduated from Indiana State University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. After earning her degree she pursued different avenues to showcase her artistic abilities and desires. From being the “Charge Scenic Artist” on the movie “Going All The Way,” painting for the Indianapolis Civic Theatre, teaching for the Indianapolis Art Center (including a semester at the Indiana School for The Blind), plus having participated in a group and individual art shows, she has done it all.
Richards is still cultivating her skills the expressing visual inspirations in a variety of media from photography, painting, and mixed media. Her journey has evolved from black and white photography shot mainly in a realism style to a more vibrant painting and drawing style with hints of abstract surrealism. Richards draws upon the colors and messages of personal night and day dreams to create her work.
Richards has shown at The Halcyon Gallery and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Her skills are still being enhanced as a teacher for the Swope Summer Youth Program and as the “Charge Scenic” for Crossroad Repertory Theatre, in Terre Haute, Ind. Besides being the coordinator for the art event “Celebrations of the Arts and Soul” in Brazil, Ind., she hopes to continue the journey of exploration by obtaining a Master Degree of Fine Arts. Her Web site is www.edieartsandwellness.com.
This exhibit will be on display through February. For more information on this exhibit, please call the Navarro Council of the Arts at (903) 872-5411.
