Youth gather for worship, testimonies, song

Breakaway 2012 this week at Corsicana’s Palace Theatre

Corsicana — They are gathering in a spirit of love, faith, and celebration.

Breakaway 2012 is the name of the spirit-filled youth rally taking place this week at Corsicana’s Palace Theatre.

The religious gathering is the brainchild of several area youth ministers at county congregations, allowing youth to come together and worship, share testimonies, and worship with their peers in a hometown setting.

Jason White, youth minister at Grace Community Church, said the gathering got its start in a similar youth worship celebration held about 10 years ago.

“It’s been good,” White said Tuesday. “There have been about 10 churches represented from different denominations.”

White said the celebration is open to any youth group that wants to take part, and will have its final night of praise and worship Wednesday starting at 7 p.m.
