Drowning claims two adults; child hospitalized
Two adults drowned and one child was flown to a Dallas hospital by air ambulance after a boat capsized in a stock tank Saturday off Northwest County Road 1146, a few miles outside of Emhouse.

$54 million CISD bond vote Saturday (with polling places)
With $54 million in school bonds on the line in Corsicana ISD in the Saturday, May 11 eleciton, only 770 people cast ballots in early voting that ended on Tuesday. About 15,000 people are eligible to vote in CISD elections.

Sykes, last remaining Emergency Corps founder, dies at 85
Whether people in the community were happy and excited on their way to a Tiger game, or grieving the death of a loved one, James Sykes was there.
He was the white-haired figure in a crisp white shirt and uniform pants waving cars into the parking lot, or escorting the funeral procession up to the cemetery entrance where he would stand with his hat over his heart, once again stopping traffic. He led off parades, and helped keep the peace at festivals, responded to airplane crashes, tornadoes, and fires, and led searches for lost children and drowning victims. -
Police: Child’s death ‘tragic accident’
Corsicana Police Chief Randy Bratton said Thursday there is no indication that the shooting death of 2-year-old Kinsler Davis was anything but a “tragic accident.”
Davis died late Wednesday from what is being described as an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. -

Fire marshal retires from Corsicana Fire Department
Retirement won’t mean lazy days for James Palos.
Palos, 48, fire marshal for the City of Corsicana for nearly 24 years, is retiring Friday. He’ll take a week off to spend some time with family, and then he starts his new career in pipeline construction safety. -
