Council rejects substance abuse bid
The Corsicana City Council rejected a request to overturn a planning and zoning commission decision not to allow a second substance abuse program to move into the Navarro Centre when the group met in regular session Tuesday night.

Bicycle races to take place this weekend in Corsicana, surrounding areas
On Saturday, about 300 bicyclists will come to town for the weekend to participate in a series of races in and around Corsicana known as the Corsicana Stage Race. This is their second year to base the races here.

Firefighter laid to rest in Frost
At 9 a.m. Thursday, police and fire scanner radios in Navarro County heard a series of tones broadcast.
Then, a final “page out” for firefighter Perry Calvin, the Frost man who lost his life April 17 in the explosion at the West Fertilizer. -
Oil heritage explored during tours on Saturday
For years, the closest connection between Derrick Days and the oil patch was the name, but in recent years there’s been at least a few links to that history that helped build Corsicana. The tour was guided by C.L. “Buster” Brown, former mayor of Corsicana and an oilman himself.
