Mr. Hugh M. Parrish Jr., 92, of Corsicana, passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at Twilight Nursing Home.
He was born June 17, 1920 in Emhouse to Olive and Hugh M. Parrish Sr.
He was a 1938 graduate of Emhouse High School and married his high school sweetheart, Bea Farmer, on New Year’s Eve, 1941. He was employed at Safeway Grocery prior to joining the Army in 1942. He attained the rank of T. Sgt in Intelligence, and was trained in observing enemy movements and personnel strength, safeguarding classified documents, and interrogation of prisoners of war.
He was a faithful member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, American Legion, and served on the Board of Directors of Food Pantry of Navarro County. He enjoyed playing the guitar and frequently sat in on the weekly “jam” sessions at the Senior Activity Center.
Mr. Parrish was preceded in death by his wife, Bea; parents, Hugh and Olive Parrish; a son, James Parrish; sister, Elizabeth Parrish; and brother, Bill Parrish.
Survivors include his sisters, Frances Cowart of Dallas, Joann Dotter of North Richland Hills, and Jeanette Sessom of Bixby, Okla.; brothers, Roy Parrish of Flower Mound, and Benny Parrish of Dallas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at Corley Funeral Home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at Corley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are James Olsen, Darrell Olsen, Charles Cowart, Steve Andrus, Stewart Andrus and Tim Parrish.
