— Avery Washington, 14, passed away in Ennis on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012.

Avery was born in Ennis on March 3, 1998, to Brad Washington and Ginger Monreal. She was a student in the Ennis ISD schools.

Avery was a member of the Junior National Honor Society and played the clarinet in the Ennis High School Band. She enjoyed writing short stories and reading. She loved to dance and make music.

She is preceded in death by grandfathers, Rudy Monreal, Jim Washington and Harvey McCammon.

Survivors include her father, Brad Washington; her mother, Ginger Monreal and step-dad Jim Thompson; brothers, Zane Washington and Kord Thompson; step-sister, D.J. Thompson; grandparents, Joy Monreal McCammon, Frankie Garza and Lucille and David Mason. She is also survived by special friends, Kailyn Bell, Makayla Pham, Soul Velasquez along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial account has been set up in Avery's name at Ennis State Bank, and at Community National Bank and Trust in Corsicana.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A celebration of her life will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, in the New Hope Church of Ennis with the Rev. Buck Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery.
