Buck Hodge, 91, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012 at Heritage Oaks Retirement Village in Corsicana. He was born March 25, 1920 in Eureka and was one of 11 children born to Arthur and Nellie Hodge.

He was preceded in death by Madelyn Hodge, his wife of 60 years; his parents, Arthur and Nellie Hodge; sisters, Audra Chandler and husband Paul, Mabel Estes and husband Lloyd; brothers, Douglas Hodge and wife Edna, Lee Hodge and wife Lynn and Jay Hodge; sister-in-law Betty Ann Hodge.

Buck is survived by his son, Coy Hodge and wife Brenda; daughter, Jo Hinshaw; grandson, Kevin Hinshaw; two sisters, Helen Lewis and husband Charles and Mary Nell Boyd; three brothers, Billy Joe Hodge, Charles Hodge and wife Mattie, Arthur Hodge and wife Catalina. He is also survived by 13 nieces; 7 nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

He served in the Army during World War II. Buck was an active member of Eureka United Methodist Church and spent the majority of his life in Eureka. As a carpenter, he built many beautiful homes in Navarro County. He also farmed all his life and enjoyed gardening. He not only fed his family out of this garden but enjoyed sharing this food with family and friends.

Visitation with family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2012 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with Tom Connolly and Ted Willis officiating. Interment will follow at Eureka Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Kenneth Hodge, Richard Hodge, Roger Hodge, Darrell Hodge, Dallas Hodge, Robert Hodge, Larry Christi and Bobby Howard.

If desired memorials may be made to Eureka Cemetery, 400 S.E. County Road 3020 Corsicana, Texas 75109; Eureka United Methodist Church Lord's Acre, 1305 FM 2859 Corsicana, Texas 75109 or the charity of your choice.
