Mary Boyd Springer passed away at the age of 89 on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012 at Heritage Oaks Retirement Village in Corsicana.
She was born Oct. 12, 1923, to Ben C. and Mattie Burns Boyd in Waxahachie. She married D. W. Springer of Midlothian in 1946. In 1948, they moved to Blooming Grove, where they made their home, raised their two children, and served the community for the remainder of their lives.
Mary was a member of the Blooming Grove United Methodist Church for 64 years. She retired from Blooming Grove ISD in May of 1998 after 25 years as kindergarten aide and library assistant. Prior to joining the school system, she worked at First State Bank, Blooming Grove.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include her son, Randy Springer and wife Tara of Corsicana; daughter, Marilyn Springer Cobb and husband Gary of Austin; sisters-in-law, Danetta Springer Countryman of Midlothian, and Ruth Boyd of Pasadena. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Molly Pierson, Meredith Sealy, Stoney Springer, Ryon Springer, and Seth Springer; two great-grandchildren, Jackson Pierson and Devin Sealy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Corsicana.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at First United Methodist Church in Blooming Grove with Pastor Nancy Summers officiating.
Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at the Sardis Cemetery near Waxahachie.
Pallbearers will be Bill J. Boyd, Bruce Boyd, Tony Dunn, Mitchell Adams, Wilson Springer, and Van McElroy.
