Corsicana —
Jeffery Lynn Ivie, 54, of San Antonio passed away on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013 to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ. Born in Arlington to James and Doris Ivie, he lived most of his life in North and Central Texas.
Jeff attended high school in the Dawson Independent School District and was voted most likely to succeed. He was President of his class, many other various clubs, and graduated Valedictorian with Honors. While in high school, Jeff became a licensed ordained minister and is fondly remembered by all who ever heard him preach. Jeff went on to attend college in Marksville, La. majoring in Psychology.
Jeff left the South to take up residence in Arcata, Calif. where he attended Humboldt State University. Jeff graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and then moved to Eureka, Calif. to become a grant writer, and supported and defended the rights for the handicapped and any and all persons with mental and physical disabilities. In 1995, Jeff traveled back to Texas to work for a hospital in Centerpoint, where he met his wife of 17 years.
Jeff obtained his Masters in Social Work (MSW) and worked for a family services organization for many years until he retired to become a full-time writer. After completing many essays and a lengthy fictional novel, Jeff turned his sights to Licensed Massage Therapy. Jeff became a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT), completed courses in theory, practice and clinical applications of Myofascial Release Techniques mastering every achievable level, which was a rare specialization in his field. In 2008, Jeff opened a Massage studio in which he dedicated his practice to helping those who had suffered from spinal injuries and other debilitating muscle and nerve injuries. He assisted many injured athletes making it possible to return to their sport.
Jeff was a master of the English language, and fluent in Latin and French. He had a deep passion for Theology and for the Culinary Arts. In his spare time, he was a painter and gifted artist. The last two years of Jeff’s life was spent cooking meals for those in need, helping the less fortunate, and providing support to families, friends and children in need of shelter. He also was involved in supporting many of those in the military, police force and the fire department.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Terri Katherine Ivie, sons Aaron Richard, Geoffrey Michael, Brendan Garrison and daughter, Natalie Katherine. He is also survived by his mother, Doris Anderson Ivie, his brother, James Randall Ivie (wife Debra), nieces Casey Martin and Nicole Ivie, sister Evonne Ivie Blackwell, nieces Richelle Blackwell Perry, Ivy Blackwell and nephew, Andrew Blackwell.
