David Arnold “Whiz” Monroe, age 59, was called home by his Lord and Savior at 5:11 a.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010.
His life, his journey and his best efforts to live with odds against him came all too soon. He is now rejoicing in his spiritual, eternal life.
He was born in Trenton, N.J., to Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Fredrick Monroe on July 16, 1950. David moved with his family and lived most of his life in Texas. He attended Weatherford High School and graduated in 1968. He graduated from UNT with a B.A. degree before going to work for Hughes Tool Company. In 1979, David moved to Corsicana. He traveled several states as a sales rep for the hydraulic hammer.
David settled in Blooming Grove, where he lived for 16 years.
David was a deacon with Central Baptist Church. He was a charter member of New Beginnings Family Fellowship. He was a member of the praise and worship team and played his beloved guitar.
Survivors include one daughter, Shannon Nichols of Bedford; two granddaughters, Paige Gaskill and Abbey Nichols of Bedford; four sisters, Linda Thomas of Hartman, Ark., Terri Casterlein of Winchester, Pa., Jeannie Dobbs of Azle and Sue Monroe of Addison; two brothers, John Monroe of Cedar Hill and Ric Church of Seal Beach, Calif.; nieces, Denise Hawkins of Weatherford and Courtney Castelein of Winchester, Pa.; nephews, Rustin Kinman of Weatherford and Michael Castelein of Winchester, Pa.; great-niece, Brooke Thomas, and great-nephew, Michael Castelein Jr., of Winchester, Pa.; ex-wife, Jamie Borselino of Wautaga; and daughter, Tosha Monroe of Washington D.C.
David leaves behind many other people that were near and dear to his heart. His love for people, his love for music and his love for strumming Bob Dylan’s tunes will be truly missed.
David was passionate about his time with family and friends. There were always good stories, abundant laughter and sweet memories to be had.
