Graveside services for Bonnie Wheeler Poston, 81, of Palestine will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at Oakwood Cemetery in Corsicana with Chaplain Kenn Somerville officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Bonnie died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, in Palestine.
She was born July 4, 1931, in Houston, to Charlie G. and Appie (Ritchie) Wheeler. Bonnie and her husband, Charles “Buddy” Poston, moved to Palestine in 1993. She and Buddy always had a garden and delighted in giving vegetables to other people. She loved her children and grandchildren and always took an active part in their lives.
Bonnie enjoyed the outdoor world and loved to travel. For many years she surrounded herself and her home with plants and trees. She loved animals and contributed to the welfare of those that she came into contact with. Bonnie was known to stop and feed strays on the side of the road. She had two cats that she took very good care of.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Charles “Buddy” Poston.
Survivors include three sons, David Poston and wife Mary, Gary Poston and wife Diane, and Larry Poston and wife Lana; five grandchildren, Tasha Henley and husband Hank, Vicky Roy and husband Devin, Jennifer Navarre and husband Tim, Kyle Poston, and Kristen Poston; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Marie Bates, Betty Wooten, Ann Holder, and Linda Goodwin; one brother, Kenneth Wheeler; four sisters–in-law; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to BARC, The Humane Society, P.O. Box 63, Palestine, TX 75802.
