Ruby Lee Schwab, 71, of Barry passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012 at 8:20 a.m. surrounded by her family at home. Ruby went home to be with the Lord after battling liver cancer for seven months. Ruby lived a very full life filled with smiles, happiness, love, and lots of grandbabies.

Ruby was a graduate of Somerset High School, class of 1959. During her senior year, she was a cheerleader. She went on to be a wife and a mother, worked at Winns Department Store in San Antonio for many years, she was a custodian at Blooming Grove Elementary for many years until she retired to stay home and play and take care of her grandbabies.

Ruby was also an active member in the Navarro Mills Baptist Church. She loved to sing to the Lord, and teach Vacation Bible School. She loved to start her day reading the Holy Bible, eating a peanut-butter sandwich and drinking a cup of coffee.

Ruby was best known and recognized for her kind words, big heart and devotion to her family.

She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Earl Schwab; her oldest daughter, Carolyn Hairston and husband Terry, their children, Brandy and James; son, Michael Schwab and wife Debbie, their children, Jessica, Tammy, Tim and Terry; daughter, Joyce Spates and husband J.B. and their children, Michelle and Duper; son, David Winn and wife Anna and their children, David, Tina, Michael, Tokpa, Elizabeth and Dianna; son, Benjamin Winn and wife Pat and their children, Krista and Jonathon; son Douglas Winn and wife Debra and their children, Cea-Jaye, Brad, and Chase; son, Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer Timothy Schwab and wife Machelle, and their children, Chance and Joshua; daughter, Tracy Wellman and husband Wendell and their sons, Brad, Blake, Connor, Ryan and Trent. She had 26 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her brother, Leroy Faktor, and his wife Betty; and their son Lee; her twin sister Mary Ann Mason and her husband John and their children, Ronnie, Kenneth, Terri and Cindy; and her youngest sister Joyce Schwab and her husband Johnny, and their children Vicky and John-John.

Today Ruby Schwab (better known as Meme) has gone to be with her Lord and Savior and the one person she held in the highest regard. She goes in peace joining her mother and father, Louise Faktor and Jim Faktor, her youngest brother, Jimmy Boy and her sister Vivian Rasmussen.

They have all reunited in a place of great happiness and peace, but we all still have the comfort of knowing she will always be watching over and protecting us all. We know our mother is dancing with the Angels to “Silver Wings” and “Walking In the Garden” with Jesus.

“Our Mother will be missed, but never forgotten.”

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, 2012 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.

A celebration of her life will be reflected in a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012 with Bro. Bob Reed officiating at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers will be grandsons, David Zbytovsky, Tokpa Zbytovsky, Josh Schwab, Ryan Wellman, great-grandson Coy Zbytovsky and great-nephew Tommy Williams. Her final resting place will be at Dresden Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Family Life Center of Navarro Mills Baptist Church, 1095 FM 667, Purdon, immediately following the graveside service.
