Cynda Cason Grover

Cynda Cason Grover, 70, of Tulsa, Okla. passed on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012 at Hillcrest Hospital.

Cynda was born on June 7, 1942 in Corsicana, to Robert and Bea Cason. She attended Southern Methodist University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi. After graduating from SMU with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, she taught in Dallas. Cynda married Gary Grover, of Bartlesville, Okla. on Aug. 21, 1965. The couple moved to Bartlesville, where Mrs. Grover continued teaching for two years, until they had their first son, Michael, in 1968. They moved to Tulsa in 1970 and had their second son, Cason, in 1973. Cynda raised their two sons full-time and was their Den Mother in Cub Scouts. Cynda was active in Saint Dunstan’s Episcopal Church, working in the office for several years, and stayed active in Pi Beta Phi, serving as President of the local Alumni Chapter. She also participated in Junior Philharmonic, Forest Creek Women’s Club and, more recently, PEO, as well as the Key tutoring program. Cynda fought a long battle with Rheumatoid Arthritis and was an inspiration to all around her, as she never gave up walking on her own and maintained a personality that brightened the days of everyone around her.

Cynda is survived by her husband, Gary; her sister, Susanna; her two sons, Michael and Cason; and her nieces, Becky and Michelle; as well as their children and grandchildren.

Services and interment will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church on East 71st Street in Tulsa.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Saint Dunstan’s Memorial Fund.
