Corsicana —
Gerald “Gerry” T. Baker, 78, of Mustang, Okla. passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012 at Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla. He was born Oct. 14, 1935 to Gordon B. and Hazel W. Baker in Dallas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Madell Young Baker; children, Teri Williams, Robin Hueber, Leslie Baker and Steve Baker; grandchildren, Shannon Hunnicutt, Amber Anderson, Jonathan Williams, Whitney Phillips, Chad Baker, Matt Williams, Kristin Huebner, Justin Huebner and Jesse Baker; great-grandchildren, Reese Williams, Jasmine Phillips, Taylin Williams, Izzy Phillips, Hailey Williams, Ashlynn Smith, Braden Burrows, Lily Burrows, Elizabeth Smith and Ana Williams. He is also survived by his sisters, Jeanette Brann and Gail Shipes, as well as a brother, Dennis Baker.
Mr. Baker served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Unit during the Korean War as a paratrooper. He was a Division Manager with Lorillard/Loews Coporation and had many part time jobs after retirement to stay active.
He was an extremely patriotic man who loved his family dearly. He loved the outdoors, his lake home, and taking care of his lawn. He was dedicated to his wife and loved traveling with her. An avid "42" player, he was a fan of the Republican Party, the Sooners, the Dallas Cowboys and more recently, the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Funeral services for Mr. Baker are scheduled for Friday, Nov. 2, 2012 at Resthaven Funeral Home at SW 104th and Walker in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012 at Providence Cemetery in Navarro County with Rev. Jay Fraze officiating.
