Brittany Lynn “Bitt-Bitt” Averitt, 22, of Madisonville, joined our Heavenly Father on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013.
Brittany was born in Corsicana on July 6, 1990, and was a graduate of Corsicana High School. She was a senior at Sam Houston State University and anticipated graduating this May with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice.
Brittany was a vibrant, fun-loving person who knew no stranger. She lived for others and loved her family and friends more than anything. She dreamed of one day helping others and looked forward to making a positive impact on their lives. She was smart, witty and full of spirit. Her laugh was infectious, and her smile could brighten a room. Her time on earth truly embodied Ralph Waldo Emerson's quote, “It is not length of life, but depth of life.” She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, who are better people for having had her in their lives.
Brittany was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, girlfriend and friend.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, the late Lee and Nettie Averitt.
She is survived by parents Dave and Yolanda Fite of Madisonville, Alex and Lynn Averitt of Corsicana, and Ronnie Kludy of Kerens; siblings, Alex Averitt Jr. and wife Tammy, Danny Castillo and wife Tiffany, Kristle Cline and husband Travis, Jonathan Allen and wife Julie, Andy Kludy and Leanna Averitt; beloved boyfriend, Oscar Hernandez; grandparents, Gonzalo and Jesusa Sendejo; Jeannie McQuary, Alan and Diane Tinsley, Helen Farmer; and many cherished friends.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Corley Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at First Baptist Church with Pastor Tom Ruane of the Cowboy Church in Madisonville officiating.
Pallbearers will include Gilbert Medrano, Michael Medrano, Bubba Medrano, Christopher Favors, Josh Slaughter and Kelby Masey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a Sam Houston State University scholarship fund that is being established in her name.
