Dr. Kalman Jay Shwarts, 65, passed away on Friday, Aug. 3, 2012 at his residence in Corsicana. He was born June 15, 1947 to Florian Label and Alvin Shwarts in Corsicana.
Dr. Shwarts, a former emergency room doctor, has been practicing in Corsicana for more than 30 years, and directed the Enviva Health Services Clinic since 1997. He was a graduate of Tulane University and Tulane Medical School.
Dr. Shwarts was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Shwarts.
He is survived by his wife, Julia Shwarts; daughter, Anastasia Shwarts Israel of San Diego, Calif.; son, Adam Shwarts of Colorado Springs, Colo.; step-son, Aaron Lilly of Brooklyn, N.Y.; mother, Florian Shwarts of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister, Susan Shwarts of Phoenix; aunt, Thelma Shwarts; and cousin, Steven Shwarts.
Visitation was held at 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 6, 2012 at Corley Funeral Home.
Prayer services will follow at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012 at Temple Beth El in Corsicana with Rabbi Frank Joseph officiating. Pallbearers are Bill Clarkson, Bill Middleton, Joe “Buddy” Gelineau, Mark Dawson, Phillip Mitchell, Bill Tinsley, Burton Gilbert and Stan Rosen.
