Our precious mother slipped away from us early Monday morning Nov. 26, 2012 into the arms of her Lord Jesus Christ. She was born March 14, 1921 in Hickman County, Tenn., in the community of Shady Grove.
She enjoyed a wonderful childhood raised by her loving parents Clara and Henry Church. She and her twin sister Olivia grew up best friends and had a special love for one another all the days of their lives. She lived in Texas the last 50 years but her beloved Tennessee was always her home. She returned to Tennessee for visits at every opportunity. Her last visit there was to a family reunion held in the same school house that she attended as a young girl, and also where she met Thomas Twomey when they were children. They later married in 1938 and had three children. She was also a seamstress at Miller Hat Factory, Royal Park and Jerrell. She was a member of the Church of Christ and for the last 28 years a member at Westhill Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents Henry B. Church and Clara E. Anderson Church; husband of 44 years, Thomas Twomey and also husband, Jim B. Riggs; her dear twin sister Olivia Church Jacobs; her brothers who were all special, Aubrey B. Church, Harold B. Church, Roy A. Church, Richard Max Church, Lewis W. Church and Henry Edwin Church; grandson, Loyal Edwin Poe III and Cody Chambers.
Survivors include her son, Tommy L. Twomey; daughters, Sandra Brunson and Carol Horvath all of Corsicana; grandchildren, Kim and Dennis Draper of Corsicana, Chip and Cindy Twomey of San Antonio, Jeff and Sandy Ivie of Oklahoma, Tammy and Dave Sater of Arlington, Brandon and Stefanie Brunson of Allen, Donna Robertson of Corsicana; sisters-in-law, Mildred Church of Columbia, Tenn. and Reba Riggs of Buffalo and also many more great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2012 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec, 1, 2012 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with Sam Dilbeck officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Chip Twomey, Jeff Ivie, Brandon Brunson, Justin Ivie, Tucker Baugh, Tyler Brunson, Jared Twomey, Jacob Twomey, Matt Cole and Jason Ivie.
