Funeral service for Charles "Donell " Washington II will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at Lifeline Family Church, 5301 W. Hwy 31, in Corsicana. Visitation will be held Friday from 12 noon to 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at Taylor Memorial C.O.G.I.C. Supt Lemmie Collins Eulogist.
Charles Donell Washington II, affectionately called “Dr. D” was born Feb. 29, 1976 to Elder Charles Sr. and Gwendolyn Washington in Corsicana.
As a child he was dedicated to Christ by parents and trained in Christian Education at Taylor Memorial C.O.G.I.C under the pastorage of Elder and Mrs F.G. Taylor. Donell graduated from High School in 1995. During his youth he played football seriously, and was just as serious in the band. He was a power lifter, with trophy to match, and won many awards in track. After school he attended Fairfield Barber College and Navarro College. Later Donell confessed Christ himself and served as an annointed musician, playing drums, organ and guitar at Greater Haynes Memoriall C.O.G.I.C. in Mexia. With his gift he served in many areas unselfishly in church and community.
Donell worked as clerk, barber, and attendant at Westside Development Center and a cook. He loved making videos, writing music, watching sports, bowling, and working with mankind.
Donell leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Elder C.D. and Gwen Washington of Corsicana; a loving sister, Scharea Lyn Washington; grandmother Elvia Cephus; God Mother, Pastor P.A. Rischer of Fairfield; Step and God brother, Tony Harvey, Joe Rischer Jr.; Spiritual Mother, Evangelist Gertrude Richardson; Church Mother, Hattie Washington. He is also survived by uncles Glen (Gerlean) Cephus, Melvin (Valerie) Cephus, Robert(Janet) Washington, Elder Donnald (Sonji) Washington, Keithen (Madeline) Washington, RoyLee ( Mattie) Washington, Ricky Washington; as well as aunts Joyce Baston, Murl Washington, Zoetta Gibbs; great aunt, Viola Reese; adopted sisters Shirley (Greg) Stewart, Stephnie ( Matt) Preston, and a host of relatives and special friends.
