Lee Stone

Corsicana —

After a very lengthy illness, Lee Stone was called home  Monday, March 19, 2013 to be with her Lord and Savior,

Jesus Christ. Lee Ora Rumbelowe Stone was born April 11, 1936 to Price and Addlee Gordon Rumbelowe of Corsicana.

Lee attended school as a small child in Corsicana and then High School in Grand Saline where she graduated in 1955. Lee attended St. Lukes Methodist Church in Grand Saline with her parents.

Lee Rumbelowe and Bob Stone began their life together Aug. 7, 1962 in Houston and made their home in Sugarland for 16 years. Lee and Bob returned to Corsicana in 1978 where Lee worked at the Navarro Memorial Hospital and Corsicana I.S.D. where she retired in 2002.

Lee was preceded in death by her sister, Amy Davis; and their parents Addlee and Price Rumbelowe.

Lee is survived by her husband of 50 years, Bob Stone; niece, Fancy Furr and husband, Johnny Furr, of Canton; nephew, Casey Davis of Kansas, great nephew, Justin Ivie and wife, Dorshan and their son, Price Ivie of Cedar Creek; Aunt and Uncle, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Cook of Temple; a number of beloved cousins and friends; special friends Sam Zamorra and wife, Augusta, Billie Jo Thompson; Dale and Dixie Crow of Houston and Mike, Debbie and Dustie Redden of Corsicana.

Lee enjoyed God's natural landscape: the outdoors and its inhabitants. Over the years Lee had pet skunks, squirrels, birds, stray cats, countless dogs and horses. Most likely the happiest day of her life was when her parents bought her a horse; Lee's very first horse at the age of 3 was a pony called Dusty. Since that time, one could surmise that Lee had a special love and talent for horses. Lee successfully competed in western pleasure on her beautiful palomino mare, Babe. Lee rode her current mare, Snow, a black and white tobiano paint mare until 2008 when she began to experience health issues that limited her ability to get on a horse. Lee had a special love for sports cars, gold and diamonds ...an Ole blonde country girl at heart with a touch of class and independence ... just enough to keep things interesting. Lee preferred reading books over watching television, not just any book though, it had to be animal related and would gladly pass her knowledge along to others when asked and sometimes when it was needed but not asked for. Lee enjoyed music by Patsy Cline but more than anything, she enjoyed the sounds made by God's creatures while outside tending to her plants and animals.

Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Corley Funeral Home.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013 at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tim Easley officiating.

Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Ernest Rumbelow, David Rumbelow, Casey David, Teddy Garcia, Sam Zamorra, Mike Redden, and Skip Tullos and honorary pallbearer will be Dicky Dillard.
