Elva Jean Chapman, 61, passed away in Dallas Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013.
Elva was born in Corsicana on July 23, 1951, to Floyd and Mary (Fields) Kirk. She grew up in Corsicana and graduated from Corsicana High School. She went on to Sam Houston State University and Midwestern State to receive her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Criminal Science. In July 1984 she married Bobby Chapman and they made their home in Waxahachie.
Elva worked for Navarro County with the Juvenile Justice, she was the chief Juvenile Probation officer in Ellis County and the Deputy Juvenile Director in Dallas County. She was a member of the Ellis County Cowboy Church. She enjoyed her work, but most of all her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby Chapman; son, Jason Chapman and his wife Sharon; three grandchildren, Hailey, Shelby and Preston Chapman; her parents, Floyd John Kirk Sr. and Mary (Fields) Kirk; brother, Floyd Kirk Jr.; mother-in-law, Lilly Chapman; nieces, nephews and friends, including her furry friends, Maggie and Sophie.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at Corley Funeral Home in Corsicana.
