Patsy Carpenter Dyess, 78, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Feb. 6, 2012 at Heritage Oaks West in Corsicana. She was born on Dec. 8, 1933 in Mabank to Ernest and Dora Moreau Carpenter. Patsy was known to the many children she loved and cared for over the last 28 years as “Mama Dyess.”

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel L. Dyess; daughter Vicky Dyess Davis, brother Ernest “Sonny” Carpenter, sisters Joyce Herrin, Catherine Hightower and Frances Townley, and great grandson Byron Elmore.

She is survived by daughters, Pam Elmore, and Georgia Page and Chip Henderson; son Danny Dyess and wife Carla. She is also survived by grandsons, Chad Elmore and wife Daniele, Brad Elmore and Tonya Trent; granddaughter, Cassie Elmore and Parker Baker and two great grandchildren; her brother Earl Carpenter, sister Othera Barlow, sister-in-law Linda Carpenter, brothers-in-law Joe and Sheria Dyess and Don and Shirley Dyess. Also numerous nieces and nephews and adopted family, Jeff, Cathy, Jordan and Alexis Johnson survive her.

Pallbearers will be Chad Elmore, Brad Elmore, Jeff Johnson, Andrew Cook, Kyle Cook and Jack Herod. Honorary pallbearer Cody Crawford.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Talbert officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of choice.
