Brenda R. Gardner

Brenda R. Gardner, 51, of Corsicana passed away Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.

Brenda was born Sept. 25, 1961 in Port Arthur, and graduated from Corsicana High School in 1980 and from Sam Houston State University in 1983. She married DeShawn A. Gardner on Oct. 8, 1988. To this union two children were born: DeShawn A. Gardner II and Brendé A. Gardner.

Brenda began teaching in Terrell ISD where she taught for 12 years. She went on to teach in Mesquite ISD for 18 years, where she was currently employed at Mackey Elementary.

Brenda was an active member of Lifeline Fellowship Family Church where she served as Sunday School teacher.

She was an extraordinary, motivated, dedicated daughter, wife, mother, sister and friend to those who knew her. She will be dearly missed.

Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Olin Nickleberry; and her husband, DeShawn A. Gardner.

She leaves to cherish her memory two children, DeShawn A. Gardner II and Brendé A. Gardner; her mother, Edith Nickleberry; one sister, Oretha Nickleberry; uncles, aunts and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at Scott Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Lifeline Fellowship Family Church, 5301 W. Hwy 31 with the  Rev. Dairy Johnson Sr. officiating, and the Rev. Ricky Walter as eulogist. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Pallbearers are Corey Dargan, Ricky Walter II, Marcus Jones, Kenneth Gardner, Lee Patrick Rice and Preston McDonald.
