Sonda Nutt Davis, 71, passed away Thursday, Nov. 27, 2009, at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas.
She was born to James and Jewel Nutt in Raleigh on May 28, 1938. She worked at the Hat Factory as a seamstress. She was a member of the New Harmony Baptist Church. Sonda loved to crochet, loved to read novels and watch westerns, loved family reunions, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a great granddaughter Brianna Danielle Swadley.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Thomas “Son” Davis of Rice; three children, Danny Nolan Davis and wife Brenda Joyce, and Glenn Allen Davis and wife Barbara Ann, all of Corsicana, and Phillip Davis of Rice; two sisters, Edna Kelly and Glenda Vandergriff, both of Farmers Branch; brother, Freddy Nutt of Dallas; four grandchildren, Amanda Swadley and husband Nathan, Steven Davis and wife Julie, Thomas A. Davis, and Kristi Davis; five great grandchildren, Lynnsey Davis, Bradley Davis, Bryan Davis, Trystan Swadley, and Abby Swadley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Bullard officiating. Interment will follow in the Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Kelly, Larry Kelly, Phillip Davis, Steven Davis, Thomas Davis and Nathan Swadley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bradley Davis and Bryan Davis.
