Corsicana —
Wanda Hawkins passed away peacefully to her Lord Monday, June 18, 2012 in Corsicana. She was born in Chatfield on May 19, 1933 to Irene and Paul Garner; married Jimmie Hawkins Feb. 16, 1950 and lived all of her life in Corsicana.
She was a lifetime member of Wesley Methodist Church and participated in the United Methodist Women’s group. In addition, she enjoyed quilting with the Piecemakers Quilt Guild, playing “Joker” on game day at the Senior Center and attending the annual “Hen Party.”
During her working years she was employed by Texas Miller (Adam Hats), J.M Dyer Company and Medical Arts Clinic.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jimmie Hawkins, brother-in-law Roy Collins and sister-in-law Linda Berry.
Survivors include: Daughter, Karen Hawkins Fenton and husband Al of Houston; son, Tommy Hawkins and wife Cindy of Corsicana; sister, Paula Cantrell and husband Gene of Amherst, Texas; sister-in-law Gladys Collins of Tyler; brother and sisters-in-law Daniel Wayne and Laverne Hawkins and Roy Glen (Shorty) and Betty Hawkins of Athens and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers will be Rick Cantrell, Steve Cantrell, Harold Hawkins, Johnnie Hawkins, Ronnie Hawkins, Marshall McCluney, and Mike McCluney.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her honor to Wesley Methodist Church Food Committee, 3308 N. Beaton, Corsicana, Texas 75110.
