Mrs. Evelyn R. McGriff, 84, of Chicago, Ill. passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, in Chicago.
Evelyn was born Sept. 2, 1927 at Cross Roads to Greenwood and Octavia Glenn. She was a 1945 graduate of G.W. Jackson High School, and earned her cosmetology license. She was owner of The Beauty Touch Salon for 27 years, also serving as president of the Chicago chapter of the National Beauty Culture League, and was a member of Maryland Avenue Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Evelyn is survived by two children, Glenda McGriff of Hazel Crest, Ill., and Harold McGriff of Spring; one sister, Ruby Mayfield of Tyler; one grandson, Tauron Butler of Dallas; one cousin, Cora Brandon of Corsicana, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Viewing will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2012 at Scott Funeral Home in Corsicana.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012 at Scott Funeral Home in Corsicana with the Rev. Alvin Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Memorial Park with friends of the family serving as pallbearers.
