Bobby Joe Shankle, 73, passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at Oakview Healthcare Residence in Hubbard.
He was born in Frederick, Okla. to J.D. and Irene Dunford Shankle on July 9, 1939. He was an industrial electrician at Brown and Root. He was also a veteran of the United States Army.
Bob was married to the love of his life, Rita Mae McNutt on Nov. 7, 1969. He was a hard worker, disciplinarian, and provider for his family. He was a wonderful father. Bob loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and would do anything for them. Overall, Bob was respected and loved by many. All those that are left behind will truly miss him.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Rita Mae McNutt Shankle, in March 2011; and parents, J.D. and Irene Shankle.
He is survived by sister, Kathleen Moon and husband Robert of Oklahoma; sons, Charles Wayne Raines and wife Christeen of Dawson, Richard Beneclayton Raines and wife Billie of Dawson; daughter, Shelia Denise Leath and husband Gene of Liberty Hill; grandsons, Orrin Brock and wife Jessie of Dawson, Ryan Foreman of Corsicana, Health Foreman of Arlington, Michael Crosswhite and wife Andrea of Rockwall, Jesse Raines of Hubbard, and Nathan Raines of Austin; granddaughters, Melanie Raines of Virginia, Heather Davis and husband Jake of Round Rock, Tabitha Brock of Dallas, Hilah Brock of Dawson, Sara Raines of Dawson, and Shalena Brock of Dawson; 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at First Baptist Church of Dawson with Charles Raines officiating.
